2022 British Indoor Athletics Championships
The 2022 British Indoor Athletics Championships were the national indoor track and field competition for British athletes, held on 26 and 27 February 2022 at Arena Birmingham. The competition served as a qualification event for the 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championships, and on 1 March, 33 British competitors were announced for that championships, and this was increased to 36 a couple of days later. Shot Put
The shot put is a track and field event involving "putting" (throwing) a heavy spherical ball—the ''shot''—as far as possible. The shot put competition for men has been a part of the modern Olympics since their revival in 1896, and women's competition began in 1948. Andrew Pozzi
Andrew William Pozzi (born 15 May 1992) is a British hurdling athlete. He was the 2018 indoor World Champion at 60 metres hurdles. He was the 2012 UK 60m and 110m Champion and holds the record for the fastest ever time run by a UK junior hurdler. The record time, 13.29 seconds, was set on 3 July 2011 in Mannheim, Germany at the Bauhaus Junior Gala. Pozzi is coached by Malcolm Arnold, the former coach of Olympic silver medalist and two-time World Championship gold medalist Colin Jackson and 400m Olympic gold medalist John Akii-Bua. Cheyanne Evans-Gray
Cheyanne Evans-Gray (born 15 July 1998) is a British sprinter, who won the 60 metres event at the 2022 British Indoor Athletics Championships. She is the British Universities and Colleges Sport record holder in the 60 metres event. Personal life Evans-Gray has studied sports science at the University of East London. She worked at Ladbrokes until 2021, when she left to focus on her athletics career. Career Evans-Gray gave up running, but at the age of 20, she rejoined Croydon Harriers athletics club. At the 2020 British Indoor Athletics Championships, she went out in the heats of the 60 metres event. That year, she won the 60 metres event at the British Universities and Colleges Sport championships in a record time of 7.28 seconds. 60 Metres
60 metres, or 60-meter dash, is a sprint event in track and field. It is a championship event for indoor championships, normally dominated by the best outdoor 100 metres runners. At outdoor venues it is a rare distance, at least for senior athletes. The format of the event is similar to other sprint distances. The sprinters follow three initial instructions: 'ready', instructing them to take up position in the starting blocks; 'set', instructing them to adopt a more efficient starting posture, which also isometrically preloads their muscles. This will enable them to start faster. The final instruction is the firing of the starter's pistol. Upon hearing this the sprinters stride forwards from the blocks. The 1500 metres or 1,500-metre run (typically pronounced 'fifteen-hundred metres') is the foremost middle distance track event in athletics. The distance has been contested at the Summer Olympics since 1896 and the World Championships in Athletics since 1983. It is equivalent to 1.5 kilometers or approximately miles. The event is closely associated with its slightly longer cousin, the mile race, from which it derives its nickname "the metric mile". The demands of the race are similar to that of the 800 metres, but with a slightly higher emphasis on aerobic endurance and a slightly lower sprint speed requirement. Adelle Tracey (born 27 May 1993) is an American-born middle-distance runner competing for Jamaica since 2022, having previously represented Great Britain, where she grew up. Tracey competes primarily in the 800 metres. She placed fourth in the event at the 2018 European Athletics Championships, but claimed a bronze in the North American equivalent, the 2022 NACAC Championships representing her new country, Jamaica. The following day, Tracey won silver for Jamaica in the 1500 metres event in the same championships.
