The men's singles tournament of the 2022 BWF World Championships took place from 22 to 28 August 2022 at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium in Tokyo. Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium
is a sporting complex in Sendagaya, Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. Built in 1954 for the World Wrestling Championship, it was also used as the venue for gymnastics at the 1964 Summer Olympics, and hosted the table tennis competition at the 2020 Summer Olympics. The gymnasium was rebuilt to a futuristic design created by Pritzker Prize winner Fumihiko Maki from 1986 to 1990. The gymnasium is a one-minute walk from Sendagaya Station on the Chūō-Sōbu Line and Kokuritsu Kyogijo Station on the Toei Oedo Line. Description and events The main arena includes a large indoor arena that hosts national and international sporting events. The arena holds 10,000 people (6,000 fixed, 4,000 temporary). Ng Ka Long
Angus Ng Ka-long (born 24 June 1994) is a badminton player from Hong Kong. He has a career-high ranking of 6th in the men's singles discipline. He won the 2016 Hong Kong Super Series and the 2020 Thailand Masters. Early life and education Ng trained at the Hong Kong Sports Institute. He credits his father as the main influence on his career. Career At the 2010 BWF World Junior Championships, Guadalajara, he won a bronze medal in the men's doubles category. He won gold in the men's doubles in 2012 in Chiba Prefecture. Georges Julien Paul (born 7 January 1996) is a Mauritian badminton player. Paul took part at the 2014 African Youth Games, and won three gold medals in the individual event. He was part of the national team that won the gold medal at the 2015 African Games. Paul won the men's singles title at the 2018 and 2020 African Championships. He competed at the 2014, 2018 and 2022 Commonwealth Games. Paul won a gold medal in the men's doubles, a silver in the singles, and a bronze in the mixed doubles at the 2019 African Games. Ng Tze Yong
Ng Tze Yong ( zh, 黄智勇, p=; born on 16 May 2000) is a Malaysian badminton player. Ng won a bronze medal in the 2021 Sudirman Cup. He also helped his team to win gold at the Badminton Asia Team Championships and 2022 Commonwealth Games. Early life and background Ng was born in Johor Bahru to Angela Tan and badminton coach, Wilson Ng Soon Tuan. He is the eldest of three siblings. Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo (born 15 June 1998) is an Indonesian professional badminton player. He was a World junior silver medalist in 2016 and Asian Championships bronze medalist in 2022. Dwi Wardoyo also part of Indonesia winning team at the 2020 Thomas Cup. Mark Caljouw
Mark Caljouw (born 25 January 1995) is a Dutch badminton player. He started playing badminton aged eight, at BC Randstad in Rijswijk. Career Caljouw was selected to join the national team in 2008, and made a debut in international senior tournament in 2012. Caljouw competed at the 2013 European Junior Championships in Ankara, Turkey, winning a silver medal in the boys' singles event, and also a bronze medal in the mixed team event. He was selected by Badminton Europe to join the Player Development Plan "Future Stars". Jason Teh
Jason Teh Jia Heng (; born 25 August 2000) is a Singaporean badminton player. He won a bronze medal for Singapore as part of the team at the 2022 Asia Team Championships, 2022 Commonwealth Games, as well at the 2019, 2021, and the 2023 SEA Games. Early life Teh was born in Penang, Malaysia on 25 August 2000. He started playing badminton when he was four and moved to Singapore to study when he was 11. Liew Daren (born 6 August 1987) is a Malaysian badminton player. His biggest success to date is having won the 2012 French Open Super Series. He reached a career high ranking of World No.10.
