2022 BAL Season
The 2022 BAL season, also known as BAL Season 2, was the second season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). The season began on 2 March 2022 and ended with the Finals on 28 May 2022. The group phase was played in the Dakar Arena in Dakar and the Hassan Moustafa Sports Hall in Cairo. The playoffs and finals were played in the BK Arena in Kigali for a second year in a row. Tunisian club US Monastir won the finals to win its first-ever BAL title, after defeating Angolan club Petro de Luanda in the 2022 BAL Finals. As winners, Monastir qualified for the 2023 FIBA Intercontinental Cup. Format On 9 December 2021, the BAL announced a new format for the season, with an expansion of the number of total games to 38. The twelve qualified teams are divided over two conference of six teams, in which all teams play the other teams once. 2020 BAL Season
The 2021 BAL season, also known as BAL Season 1, was the inaugural season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). Established as a joint effort between the National Basketball Association (NBA) and FIBA, the BAL is the highest tier continental league of Africa, replacing the FIBA Africa Basketball League. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the BAL held its inaugural season one year later as planned, with the season beginning in 2021. Initially the league planned to play in six venues in six countries; however, due to the pandemic the season was held in a bio-secure bubble in Kigali, Rwanda. The season began on 16 May 2021 and ended on 30 May 2021. The qualifying rounds for the season were held from 16 October to 21 December 2019, with national champion of each African country has the opportunity to qualify through the qualifying rounds. AS Salé (basketball)
Association Sportive Salé ( ar, جمعية سلا), commonly known as AS Salé, is a Moroccan basketball club from Salé. The club competes in the Division Excellence and the Basketball Africa League (BAL). Rivers Hoopers is a Nigerian basketball team based in Port Harcourt, Rivers. The team plays in the Nigerian Premier League. Established in 2009 as Royal Hoopers, the team has played in the Premier League since its inception. Hoopers have won the national championship four times, with titles in 2011, 2012, 2019 and 2021. The 2020–21 Angolan Basketball League was the 43rd season of the Angolan Basketball League, the highest premier basketball league in Angola. It was the first season after the previous season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Petro de Luanda (basketball), Petro de Luanda won its 14th championship. The 2021 Nationale 1 season was the season of the Nationale 1, the premier basketball league in Senegal. The champions directly qualify for the 2022 Basketball Africa League season. DUC Dakar won its fifth national championship after defeating defending champions AS Douanes in the final. Thierno Niang was named the league's Finals MVP. 2020–21 Egyptian Basketball Super League
The 2020–21 Egyptian Basketball Super League was the 47th season of the Egyptian Basketball Super League. The champions qualify for the 2022 Basketball Africa League (BAL) season. Zamalek won its 14th national title, after winning in the finals Against Al Ittihad. The season was decided in Game 5, which Zamalek won 84–80 after overtime.
