The 2022 Australian Grand Prix (officially known as the Formula 1 Heineken Australian Grand Prix 2022) was a Formula One motor race that was held on 10 April 2022 in Melbourne, Victoria. It was contested at the Albert Park Circuit and was the third round of the 2022 Formula One World Championship. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc scored his first career grand slam, having started in pole position, set the fastest lap, led every lap, and won the race ahead of Red Bull's Sergio Pérez and Mercedes' George Russell. Some racing series, like Formula One, Formula 2 and Formula E award championship points for a driver or team that set the fastest lap. Eduardo Freitas (born October 27, 1961) is a Portuguese motorsports official and race director. Freitas served as the race director for FIA Gran Turismo, the European Touring Car Championship, the European Le Mans Series, the Asian Le Mans Series and the World Endurance Championship from 2002 to 2022. In this role, Freitas oversaw the logistics of sports car, touring cars and endurance racing weekends, ensuring cars, tracks, and drivers conform to FIA regulations before, during, and after a race. The 1928 Australian Grand Prix was a motor race held on the Phillip Island road circuit, on Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia on 31 March 1928. Although now known as the first Australian Grand Prix, the race was actually staged as the 100 Miles Road Race and it did not assume the Australian Grand Prix title until some years later. It was organised by the Victorian Light Car Club. The overall winner was Arthur Waite driving an Austin 7. The winning car averaged 56.25 mph (90.50 km/h).
