2022 ARIA Music Awards
The 2022 ARIA Music Awards were the 36th Annual Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards (generally known as ARIA Music Awards or simply The ARIAs) and consist of a series of awards, including the 2022 ARIA Artisan Awards, ARIA Fine Arts Awards and the ARIA Awards. The ARIA Awards ceremony occurred on 24 November 2022, broadcast on Nine Network and live-streamed via YouTube from Hordern Pavilion, Sydney. Modifications were Best Artist became Best Solo Artist, Best Dance/Electronic Release replaced Best Dance Release, Mix Engineer – Best Mixed Album instead of Engineer of the Year and Producer – Best Produced Album changed from Producer of the Year. Entries for all categories closed on 12 August 2022 and final nominees were announced on 12 October. Hosts for the show were announced as Natalie Imbruglia and Lewis Capaldi on 14 October, however on 2 November Capaldi withdrew "due to unforeseen scheduling issues". Hordern Pavilion
Hordern Pavilion is a building located in Moore Park, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, on the grounds of the old Sydney Showground. "The Hordern", as it is affectionally known by Sydneysiders, has been an architecturally and socially significant Sydney landmark since its construction in 1924. Now best known as a dance party and rock concert venue, the Hordern Pavilion was originally constructed for the Royal Agricultural Society of New South Wales to meet the increasing demands for exhibition space at the Royal Easter Show. Archie Roach
Archibald William Roach (8 January 1956 – 30 July 2022) was an Australian singer, songwriter and Aboriginal Australian, Aboriginal activist. Often referred to as "Uncle Archie", Roach was a Gunditjmara and Western Bundjalung people, Bundjalung elder who campaigned for the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. His wife and musical partner was the singer Ruby Hunter (1955–2010). Roach first became known for the song "Took the Children Away", which featured on his debut solo album, ''Charcoal Lane'', in 1990. He toured around the globe, headlining and opening shows for Joan Armatrading, Bob Dylan, Billy Bragg, Tracy Chapman, Suzanne Vega and Patti Smith. Amyl and the Sniffers are an Australian pub rock and punk rock band based in Melbourne, consisting of vocalist Amy Taylor, drummer Bryce Wilson, guitarist Dec Martens, and bassist Gus Romer. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2019, their self-titled debut record won the Best Rock Album category. Maya Cumming (born 2001), known professionally as MAY-A (stylised in all caps), is an Australian singer-songwriter from Sydney, New South Wales. On 2 February 2022, Cumming was featured on the single " Say Nothing", a collaboration with Australian electronic musician and producer Flume. Early life May-a grew up in Sydney, but moved to Byron in 2010. She moved back to Sydney age 13. Whilst living in Byron Bay she competed in songwriting competitions, and performed street busking around the ages of 11 to 14. Harley Edward Streten (born 5 November 1991), known professionally as Flume, is an Australian DJ and music producer. He is regarded as a pioneer of future bass who helped popularise the genre. His self-titled debut studio album, ''Flume'', was released in 2012 to positive reviews, topping the ARIA Albums Chart and reaching double-platinum accreditation in Australia.
