2022 ARCA Menards Series East
The 2022 ARCA Menards Series East is the 36th season of the ARCA Menards Series East, a regional stock car racing series sanctioned by NASCAR in the United States. The season began on February 15 with the Race to Stop Suicide 200 at New Smyrna Speedway and will end on September 15 with the Bush's Beans 200 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Sammy Smith entered the season as the defending champion. He will move up to the main ARCA Series to replace Ty Gibbs in the No. 18 car for Kyle Busch Motorsports (previously a Joe Gibbs Racing car in 2021) in most of the races after he turns 18 (the minimum age to race at all tracks) on June 4, 2022. List Of ARCA Menards Series East Champions
The ARCA Menards Series East (formerly Busch East Series, Busch North Series, Camping World East Series, and NASCAR K&N Pro Series East) is a regional stock car racing series owned and operated by the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) and the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR). Races are held at oval tracks ranging from in length and on two road courses, in length. Most races are stand-alone events (i.e. not in conjunction with other NASCAR touring series), but there are three race weekends that are in combination with the NASCAR Cup Series. Many of the ARCA Menards Series East drivers on the series are gaining experience with the hopes of moving up to one of the major NASCAR series, however some of the drivers are right at home in the series and have no plans of moving on. Leland Honeyman Jr. (born February 23, 2005) is an American professional stock car racing driver who competes part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the Nos. 43/44/45 Chevrolet Camaros for Alpha Prime Racing, the No. 35 Chevrolet Camaro for Emerling-Gase Motorsports and the No. 66 Ford Mustang for MBM Motorsports as well as part-time in the ARCA Menards Series/ARCA Menards Series West, driving the No. 02 Chevrolet SS for Young's Motorsports. Wayne Peterson (born May 24, 1938) is an American professional stock car racing owner/driver and former paratrooper and United States Army Special Forces member. He currently operates Wayne Peterson Racing, a team in the ARCA Menards Series. Military career Peterson grew up in a poor family in Boaz, Alabama, and when he was 15 years old, his high school was visited by Army National Guard recruiters. Attracted by the benefits of food and clothing, he enlisted and entered active duty at 16, but was sent back to school upon discovering his age. After graduating, he returned to the military and was stationed at Fort Bragg as a paratrooper in the XVIII Airborne Corps. Peterson was a member of the United States Army Parachute Team (Golden Knights), and worked with NASA on performing High Altitude Low Opening (HALO) landings. Nate Moeller (born November 18, 1997) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He competes part-time in the ARCA Menards Series and ARCA Menards Series East, driving the No. 0/06 Toyotas for Wayne Peterson Racing. Racing career ARCA Menards Series East Moeller made his ARCA Menards Series East debut in 2022 at Five Flags Speedway. He originally qualified for the race in the No. 06 Ford Fusion for Wayne Peterson Racing, but after Benny Chastain wrecked in his No. 10 Toyota Camry for Fast Track Racing, Moeller ran the race for them. Benny Chastain
Benny Chastain (born September 22, 1942) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He last competed part-time in the ARCA Menards Series, driving the No. 01 Ford Fusion for Fast Track Racing. Racing career ARCA Menards Series Benny Chastain didn’t start racing until 1997, when he was 55 years old. After years of success at his local dirt track, he made his ARCA Menards Series debut in 2004 at South Boston Speedway. Chastain finished 22nd in his series debut. Chastain made starts over the next 12 years, never running full-time outside of 2006. In 2017, Chastain managed to lead a lap at Talladega Superspeedway, the only one of his career. Ed Pompa
Ed Pompa (born December 14, 1962) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He currently competes part-time in the ARCA Menards Series, driving various cars for Fast Track Racing. Racing career Early years ARCA Menards Series Pompa would get his start in the ARCA Re/Max Series in 2006, driving a Pontiac (automobile), Pontiac for Andy Belmont Racing, finishing 25th. From 2008 to the present, he has then made select starts for various cars for Fast Track Racing each season. In 2010, he would suffer his first retirement at New Jersey Motorsports Park due to handling issues.
