The Group A of the 2022 AFF Championship were one of the two groups of competing nations in the 2022 AFF Championship. It consists of Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Brunei. The matches took place from 20 December 2022 to 2 January 2023. Thailand and Indonesia advanced to the semi-finals as the top two teams on the group. 2022 AFF Championship
The 2022 AFF Championship (officially AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022 due to sponsorship reasons) was the 14th edition of the AFF Championship, the football championship of nations affiliated to the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) and was the 1st edition under the name AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup. The final tournament ran from 20 December 2022 to 16 January 2023. Thailand were the defending champions, and won the tournament by a 3–2 aggregate score in the two-legged final against Vietnam to secure their seventh title. Format The AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022 followed the 2018 format, a change from the 2020 format with a centralised venue due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Southeast Asia. In the current format, the nine highest-ranked teams automatically qualifed with the 10th and 11th ranked teams playing in a two-legged qualifier. 2004 AFF Championship
The 2004 AFF Championship (officially known as the 2004 Tiger Cup for sponsorship reasons) was the 5th edition of the AFF Championship, the football championship of nations affiliated to the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF), and the last time under the name Tiger Cup. This was the first time a new format had been applied, with Group stage was jointly hosted by Vietnam and Malaysia from 7 to 16 December 2004, and top two teams from each group advanced to the Semi-finals and the Final, which was played in a two-leg home-and-away format from 28 December 2004 to 16 January 2005. Thailand were the defending champions, but were eliminated in Group stage. Singapore won the tournament by a 5–2 victory in the two-legged final against Indonesia to secure their second title.
