2022 ACC Men's Soccer Tournament
The 2022 ACC men's soccer tournament was the 36th edition of the ACC Men's Soccer Tournament. The tournament decided the Atlantic Coast Conference champion and guaranteed representative into the 2022 NCAA Division I men's soccer tournament. The final was played at Sahlen's Stadium in Cary, North Carolina. The defending champions, Notre Dame was unable to defend their title, falling to Clemson in the first round. Clemson advanced to the final, becoming the lowest seed to do so in tournament history. However, Clemson could not complete their improbable run, losing to Syracuse 2–0 in the final. The victory was the second ACC Tournament title during Syracuse's time in the ACC and second title under head coach Ian McIntyre. WakeMed Soccer Park
WakeMed Soccer Park is a major soccer complex in Cary, North Carolina, United States. It consists of a purpose-built, soccer-specific main stadium called Sahlen's Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park, two lighted practice fields, and four additional fields. Sahlen's Stadium and the two lighted fields (2 & 3) are all FIFA international regulation size (). Sahlen's Stadium seats 10,000, while Field 2 also has 1,000 permanent bleacher seats. 2022 North Carolina Tar Heels Men's Soccer Team
The 2022 North Carolina Tar Heels men's soccer team represented the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill during the 2022 NCAA Division I men's soccer season. It was the 76th season of the university fielding a program. The Tar Heels were led by twelfth year head coach Carlos Somoano and played their home games at Dorrance Field. The Tar Heels finished the season 8–6–5 overall and 2–2–4 in ACC play to finish in fourth place in the Coastal Division. As the seventh overall seed in the ACC Tournament, they defeated Boston College in the First Round, before losing to eventual champions Syracuse in the Quarterfinals. Bryce Boneau
Bryce Boneau (born 2002) is an American soccer player at the University of Notre Dame. Boneau is the 2021 recipient of the Gatorade Player of the Year for Boys' Soccer, a national recognition for the top boys high school soccer player in the United States. Boneau played high school soccer for Keller High School in Keller, Texas, and youth soccer for Odyssey FC, Solar FC and for FC Dallas. Career Youth and college Boneau played both high school and club soccer during his youth years. Hamady Diop (born 2002) is a Senegalese footballer who currently plays for Charlotte FC in Major League Soccer. Diop was the first-overall selection in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft. Dorrance Field is the on-campus soccer and lacrosse stadium at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The stadium was constructed on the site of the old Fetzer Field. A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. Overtime or extra time is an additional period of play specified under the rules of a sport to bring a game to a decision and avoid declaring the match a tie or draw where the scores are the same. 2022 Virginia Tech Hokies Men's Soccer Team
The Virginia Tech Hokies men's soccer team represents the Virginia Tech, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in all NCAA Division I men's college soccer competitions. The Hokies are members of the Atlantic Coast Conference and play their home matches at Sandra D. Thompson Field.
