The 2021–22 Naisten Liiga season is the thirty-ninth season of the Naisten Liiga, the premier level of women's ice hockey in Finland, since the league's establishment as the Naisten SM-sarja in 1982. The Buffalo Beauts are a professional ice hockey team based in Amherst, New York, United States. The team was established in 2015 as one of the four founding franchises of the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF), originally named the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL). NCAA Division III women's ice hockey is a college ice hockey competition governed by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) as part of the NCAA Division III (DIII or D3). Sixty-seven teams competed in NCAA Division III women’s hockey across eight conferences in the 2019–20 season. Norwich Cadets Women's Ice Hockey
The Norwich Cadets women's ice hockey team represents Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont. The school's women's team competes in NCAA Division III women's ice hockey, as part of the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC). Norwich alumna Sophie Leclerc has served as head coach of the program since the 2019–20 season. History The 2007–08 season marked the inaugural season of the Norwich Cadets as a varsity team. Neuchâtel Hockey Academy, abbreviated NHA, NE Hockey Academy, or Neuchâtel HA, are a women's ice hockey club in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. Terhi Mertanen
Terhi Eveliina Mertanen (born 4 April 1981) is a Finnish retired ice hockey defenceman and current head coach of TPS Naiset in the Naisten Liiga. She was a member of the Finnish national ice hockey team for thirteen seasons and won bronze medals in the women's ice hockey tournament at the 2010 Winter Olympics and at the IIHF Women's World Championships in 2004 and 2011. Playing career Mertanen developed in the youth system of Jokipojat in her hometown of Joensuu, North Karelia, in western Finland. Kai Ortio (born 23 September 1965) is a Finnish retired ice hockey player and the current head coach of Turun Palloseura (TPS) Akatemia U16, a junior ice hockey team in the U16 Mestis. During his playing career, he played two seasons in the SM-liiga, appearing with HC TPS in 45 games during the 1987–88 and 1988–89 seasons and registering three points (0 goals+3 assists) and 22 penalty minutes.
