2021–22 Mid-American Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2021–22 Mid-American Conference men's basketball season began with practices in October 2021, followed by the start of the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season in November. Conference began in January 2021 and concluded in March 2022. Toledo won their second straight MAC regular season title with a 17–3 conference record. Fourth seeded Akron defeated Kent State in the final of the MAC tournament. With the automatic bid, Akron was the only MAC schools to qualify for the NCAA tournament where they lost to UCLA in the first round. Toledo accepted a bid to the National Invitation Tournament where they lost to Dayton in the first round. Ohio accepted a bid to the College Basketball Invitational. 2022 The Basketball Classic
The 2022 The Basketball Classic (TBC) was a single-elimination men's college basketball postseason tournament featuring National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I teams not selected to participate in the NCAA Tournament or the National Invitation Tournament (NIT). The tournament began on March 15 with the semifinals played on March 29 and the championship game played on April 1. The tournament was won by the Fresno State Bulldogs. The Basketball Classic was founded by Eracism. This was the tournament's inaugural edition, officially known as the 2022 The Basketball Classic presented by Eracism. All games were streamed on ESPN+. Ryan Anthony Rollins (born July 3, 2002) is an American professional basketball player for the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Toledo Rockets. Early life and high school career Rollins was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. Bennett Vander Plas (born September 19, 1998) is an American professional basketball player for BC Šiauliai of the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL). He played college basketball for the Ohio Bobcats and Virginia Cavaliers. Vander Plas was the Division I Academic All-American of the Year in 2022 and 2023. Joshua Kenneth Mballa (born 29 July 1999) is a French basketball player. He played college basketball for the Ole Miss Rebels, the Texas Tech Red Raiders and Buffalo Bulls. Early life and career Mballa was born in Detroit, Michigan but raised in Bordeaux, France. Daeqwon R. Plowden (born August 29, 1998) is an American professional basketball player for the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
