2021–22 Chelsea F.C. Season
The 2021–22 season was Chelsea Football Club's 116th year in existence and 33rd consecutive season in the top flight of English football. In addition to the domestic league, Chelsea participated in this season's editions of the FA Cup, EFL Cup, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup. The season covered the period from 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2022. Chelsea finished the 2021–22 season with two trophies out of a possible six, winning the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup. The club's victory in the latter competition was significant as it not only confirmed Chelsea as World Champions for the first time, but also clinched the only outstanding piece of silverware that the club had not previously won. 2021 UEFA Super Cup
The 2021 UEFA Super Cup was the 46th edition of the UEFA Super Cup, an annual football match organised by UEFA and contested by the winners of the two main European club competitions, the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League. The match featured English club Chelsea, the winners of the 2020–21 UEFA Champions League, and Spanish club Villarreal, the winners of the 2020–21 UEFA Europa League. It was played at Windsor Park, Belfast, Northern Ireland, on 11 August 2021. Chelsea won the match 6–5 on penalties following a 1–1 draw after extra time for their second UEFA Super Cup title.
