2021–22 Campeonato De Portugal
The 2021–22 Campeonato de Portugal was the ninth season of Portuguese football's recreated fourth-tier league, since the merging of the Segunda Divisão and Terceira Divisão in 2013, and the seventh season under the current Campeonato de Portugal title. After the creation of Liga 3, the new third-tier league in 2021, this was also the first season of Campeonato Portugal as the fourth-tier league in Portuguese football league system, the 24th overall at that level. This edition was contested by 61 clubs. Format After the transition season of 2020–21, due to COVID effects and creation of Liga 3, the number of participating teams was reduced from 96 to 63. After two teams withdrew before the draw, the competition has 61 teams. The new competition format consists of three stages. Campeonato De Portugal (league)
The Campeonato de Portugal (Portuguese for 'Championship of Portugal') is the fourth level of the Portuguese football league system. Together with the third-tier Liga 3, it is organized by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF). The Campeonato de Portugal was introduced in 2013 as the new third-level championship, under the name Campeonato Nacional de Seniores (Seniors National Championship), replacing both the Segunda Divisão and Terceira Divisão (former third and fourth divisions, respectively). Portuguese Football League System
The Portuguese football league system consists of several leagues bound together hierarchically by promotion and relegation. Reserve teams are allowed to compete in the main league system, as is the case with most of Europe. The Liga 3 is the third-level football league in the Portuguese football league system, starting in 2021–22. It is a professional national league organized by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF). The creation of this league is part of a restructuring of the Portuguese third tier, with Campeonato de Portugal, which saw the number of teams reduced, being relegated to fourth tier and the top teams competing there advancing to this new competition. The Terceira Divisão Portuguesa (in English: ''Portuguese Third Division'') was a football league in Portugal, situated at the fourth level of the Portuguese football league system. The Third Division was initially the third level of the Portuguese pyramid but with the creation of the Segunda Liga in 1990–91, it became the fourth level. The Segunda Divisão Portuguesa (English language, English: ''Portuguese Second Division'') was a association football, football league situated at the third level of the Portuguese football league system. The 2022–23 Campeonato de Portugal will be the tenth season of Portuguese football's renovated fourth-tier league, since the merging of the Segunda Divisão and Terceira Divisão in 2013, and the seventh season under the current Campeonato de Portugal title. 2020–21 Campeonato De Portugal
The 2020–21 Campeonato de Portugal was the eighth season of Portuguese football's renovated third-tier league, since the merging of the Segunda Divisão and Terceira Divisão in 2013, and the sixth season under the current Campeonato de Portugal title. A total of 96 teams competed in this division. Due to the cancellation of all non-professional competitions in the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Portugal on the previous season, no teams were relegated, which lead to an additional team from each of the 20 district championships. The Portuguese Football Federation decided the creation of the Liga 3, a new tier in the Portuguese league system, beginning with the 2021–22 season, as well as a new format for Campeonato de Portugal, including the addition of four reserve teams invited from Primeira Liga clubs raising the total number of teams from 72 to 96. Sport Clube Vila Real ''(abbreviated as SC Vila Real )'' is a Portuguese football club based in Vila Real in the district of Vila Real. Background SC Vila Real currently plays in the Terceira Divisão Série B which is the fourth tier of Portuguese football.
