2021–22 Big Bash League Season
The 2021–22 Big Bash League season or BBL, 11 was the eleventh season of the Big Bash League, the professional men's Twenty20 domestic cricket competition in Australia. The tournament was played from 5 December 2021 and finished on 28 January 2022. The Perth Scorchers defeated the defending champions Sydney Sixers by 79 runs in the final to claim their fourth title. Background On 8 November 2021, Cricket Australia (CA) confirmed that the inaugural BBL First Nations round would be played between January 8 and 14, 2022. The matches were played at the venues in Adelaide, with the players of all teams wearing Indigenous kits designed by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders artists, which are portraying unique stories. Adam Griffith
Adam Richard Griffith (born 11 February 1978) is a former Australian cricket player and Australian bowling coach. He was appointed as the cricket coach for Tasmania for the 2017–2018 season. He played first-class cricket for Tasmania and also had a spell at Leicestershire. He played his club cricket for South Launceston Cricket Club & North Hobart Cricket Club. Playing career Griffith represented his native state of Tasmania between 2002 and 2010, and was a member of Tasmania's first-ever Sheffield Shield winning team in 2006–07. He took 158 first-class wickets for Tasmania; at the time of his retirement he was the fifth-highest wicket taker in the state's history. Matthew Wade
Matthew Scott Wade (born 26 December 1987) is an Australian cricketer. He has represented the Australian national team as wicket-keeper and batsman in all three forms of international cricket. York Park
York Park is a sports ground in the Inveresk and York Park Precinct, Launceston, Australia. Holding 19,000 people – the largest capacity stadium in Tasmania, York Park is known commercially as University of Tasmania Stadium and was formerly known as Aurora Stadium under a previous naming rights agreement signed with Aurora Energy in 2004. Bellerive Oval, known commercially as Blundstone Arena for sponsorship reasons, is a cricket and Australian rules football ground located in Bellerive, a suburb on the eastern shore of Hobart, Australia, holding 20,000 people it is the largest capacity stadium in Tasmania. It is the only venue in Tasmania which hosts international cricket matches. Wade Seccombe
Wade Anthony Seccombe (born 30 October 1971 in Murgon, Queensland) is a retired Australian first-class cricketer representing the state of Queensland. A wicket-keeper, Seccombe spent much of his career as second choice behind incumbent Ian Healy, replacing him largely when the latter was on international duty. He was nevertheless regarded as a keeper of substantial skill, rated a "great keeper" by Australian captain Ricky Ponting. James John Peirson (born 13 October 1992) is an Australian cricketer. Domestic career Peirson plays for Queensland and the Redlands Tigers in Brisbane Grade Cricket. He made his List A debut on 17 October 2013 for Queensland against New South Wales. He made his first-class debut for Cricket Australia XI against the West Indians during their tour of Australia in December 2015. Carrara Stadium
Carrara Stadium (known commercially as Metricon Stadium) is a stadium on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, located in the suburb of Carrara. The stadium is primarily used for Australian rules football, serving as the home ground of the Gold Coast Suns, who compete in the Australian Football League. In addition, the venue is used occasionally for cricket, including Big Bash League matches. The Brisbane Cricket Ground, commonly known as the Gabba, is a major sports stadium in Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, Australia. The Brisbane Heat are an Australian men's professional Twenty20 franchise cricket team that competes in the Big Bash League. Jason Gillespie
Jason Neil Gillespie (born 19 April 1975) is an Australian cricket coach and former cricketer who played all three formats of the game. A right-arm fast bowler, he was also a competent lower-order batsman whose unbeaten 201 in his last Test match is the highest score by a night-watchman in international cricket. Gillespie made his One Day International debut against Sri Lanka at Colombo in the Singer World Series in August 1996, and his Test debut against the West Indies at Sydney in November 1996. He also played for South Australia, Yorkshire and Glamorgan at first-class level, and was an AIS Australian Cricket Academy scholarship holder in 1995.
