2021–22 Atlanta Hawks Season
The 2021–22 Atlanta Hawks season was the 72nd season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and 54th in Atlanta. The Hawks entered the season with much higher expectations due to their surprising Eastern Conference Finals appearance in the previous season, but struggled on defense and hovered around .500 for most of the season. Despite the struggles, the Hawks qualified for the Play-in Tournament after a win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on April 12. They defeated both the Charlotte Hornets and the Cleveland Cavaliers to clinch a playoff berth as the No. 8 seed, but fell to the top-seeded Miami Heat in five games. Nate McMillan
Nathaniel McMillan (born August 3, 1964) is an American basketball coach and former player who serves as head coach of the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He coached the Seattle SuperSonics from 2000 to 2005, the Portland Trail Blazers from 2005 to 2012, and the Indiana Pacers from 2016 to 2020. He spent his entire 12-year NBA playing career with the SuperSonics, then served as an assistant coach for one-and-a-half years and as head coach for almost five years. Delon Reginald Wright (born April 26, 1992) is an American professional basketball player for the Washington Wizards of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Trae Young
Rayford Trae Young (born September 19, 1998) is an American professional basketball player for the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Oklahoma Sooners. In 2017, he tied the then-record in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I single-game assists with 22. Young became the only player to ever lead the NCAA in both points and assists in a single season. John Martin Collins III (born September 23, 1997) is an American professional basketball player for the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Collins was selected with the 19th pick by the Hawks in the 2017 NBA draft. NBA G League
The NBA G League, or simply the G League, is the National Basketball Association's (NBA) official List of developmental and minor sports leagues, minor league basketball organization. The league was known as the National Basketball Development League (NBDL) from 2001 to 2005, and the NBA Development League (NBA D-League) from 2005 until 2017. The league started with eight teams until NBA commissioner David Stern announced a plan to expand the NBA D-League to 15 teams and develop it into a true minor league farm team, farm system, with each NBA D-League team affiliated with one or more NBA teams in March 2005. Nickey Maxwell Van Exel (born November 27, 1971) is an American professional basketball coach and former player who is an assistant coach for the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Van Exel played for six NBA teams from 1993 through 2006. He was an NBA All-Star with the Los Angeles Lakers in 1998. Marlon Errol Garnett (born July 3, 1975) is an American-Belizean coach and former professional basketball player, currently an assistant coach for the Charlotte Hornets of the NBA.
