Elections In Liechtenstein
Elections in Liechtenstein take place at a national level within a multi-party system, with two dominant political parties. The Landtag of Liechtenstein has 25 members, elected for a four-year term by proportional representation in two multi-seat constituencies. The country became a democracy in 1984 when it replaced universal male suffrage with universal suffrage, following a national referendum. Electoral process A variation of the standard party-list proportional format is used to elect 15 members from the district of Oberland and 10 members from the district of Unterland. 2021 Salvadoran Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in El Salvador on 28 February 2021 to elect the 84 members of the Legislative Assembly, 20 members of the Central American Parliament and 262 mayors. The result was a landslide victory for Nuevas Ideas with pro-Bukele parties winning a supermajority of seats. The government of El Salvador is a presidential representative democratic republic. El Salvador elects its head of state – the President of El Salvador – directly through a fixed-date general election whose winner is decided by absolute majority. If an absolute majority (50% + 1) is not achieved by any candidate in the first round of a presidential election, then a run-off election is conducted 30 days later between the two candidates who obtained the most votes in the first round. The presidential period is five years. Consecutive re-election is not permitted, though previously elected presidents may run for a second, non-consecutive term. Elections in Niger take place within the framework of a semi-presidential system. The President and National Assembly are elected by the public, with elections organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI). Electoral history Following World War II, French political reforms meant that Niger began to elect members to the French National Assembly. The first of these elections took place on 21 October 1945, with Niger and neighbouring French Sudan (now Mali) combined into a single constituency. 2021 Laotian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Laos on 21 February 2021 to elect the members of the ninth National Assembly. Provincial elections took place simultaneously. Background The Lao People's Revolutionary Party is the sole party that can field candidates. During the 2016 Laotian parliamentary election the party obtained 144 of 149 total seats, with the rest won by independent candidates. In total, Laos has 4,280,000 eligible voters, according to the National Election Committee.
