2021 Sibiu Cycling Tour
The 2021 Sibiu Cycling Tour was a road cycling stage race that took place between 3 and 6 July 2021 in and around the city of Sibiu, Romania. It was the 11th edition of the Sibiu Cycling Tour and a category 2.1 event on the 2021 UCI Europe Tour. Teams Two UCI WorldTeams, four UCI ProTeams, twenty-one UCI Continental teams, and the Romanian national team made up the twenty-eight teams that participated in the race. Only four of these teams did not enter a full squad of six riders; , , , and each entered a squad of five riders. With one further non-starter, was reduced to four riders, meaning 163 riders started the race. Of these riders, 148 finished the race. 2021 UCI Europe Tour
The 2021 UCI Europe Tour was the 17th season of the UCI Europe Tour. The season began on 24 January 2021 with the Trofeo Luis Puig, Clàssica Comunitat Valenciana 1969 – Gran Premio Valencia and ended on 24 October 2021 with the Ronde van Drenthe. Throughout the season, points were awarded to the top finishers of stages within stage races and the final general classification standings of each of the stages races and one-day events. The quality and complexity of a race also determined how many points are awarded to the top finishers; the higher the UCI rating of a race, the more points were awarded. Individual Time Trial
An individual time trial (ITT) is a road bicycle race in which cyclists race alone against the clock (in French: ''contre la montre'' – literally "against the watch", in Italian: ''tappa a cronometro'' "stopwatch stage"). There are also track-based time trials where riders compete in velodromes, and team time trials (TTT). ITTs are also referred to as "the race of truth", as winning depends only on each rider's strength and endurance, and not on help provided by teammates and others riding ahead and creating a slipstream. Bâlea Lake
Bâlea Lake ( ro, Lacul Bâlea or ''Bâlea Lac'', ; hu, Bilea-tó) is a glacier lake situated at 2,034 m of altitude in the Făgăraș Mountains, in central Romania, in Cârțișoara, Sibiu County. There are two chalets opened all the year round, a meteorological station and a mountain rescue ( Salvamont) station. It is accessible by car on the Transfăgărășan road during the summer, and the rest of the year by a cable car from the "Bâlea Cascadă" chalet. Păltiniș
Păltiniş (german: Hohe Rinne; hu, Szebenjuharos) is a mountain resort in Transylvania, Romania, 35 km south-west from Sibiu in the Cindrel Mountains. It is situated at 1440 m altitude, being the highest resort in Romania. It lies in a conifer forest.
