2021 Segunda División B Play-offs
The 2021 Segunda División B play-offs (Playoffs de Ascenso or Promoción de Ascenso) were the final play-offs for promotion from 2020–21 Segunda División B to the 2021–22 Segunda División. Due to the new format, the three first placed teams in each one of the five promotion groups, along with the best fourth placed team qualified for the promotion play-offs. Venues On 30 April 2021, the Royal Spanish Football Federation announced that the play-offs would be played in four locations of Extremadura. Format For the last time four teams promoted from Segunda División B to Segunda División. Since the 2021–22 season the promotion will be played in the Primera División RFEF. The competition for these places is reserved this season for the first three classified from each of the five groups that make up the entire Segunda B, as well as the best fourth classified that was resolved by a final score based on points per game. 2020–21 Segunda División B
The 2020–21 Segunda División B season was the 44th since its establishment and the last as the third tier. A total of 102 teams participated, and were distributed in three groups of 20 teams each and two groups of 21, with eight subgroups of ten teams each and two with eleven teams each. On 6 May 2020, the Royal Spanish Football Federation announced the expansion of the league to what were initially five groups of 20 teams each for the 2020–21 season due to promotion from the Tercera División groups in the curtailed past season being applied. The season began on 18 October, following approval by each of Spain's autonomous regions' health departments. For next season the Segunda División B was demoted to the fourth level and dropped the B in its name in favour of the federation's Spanish initials RFEF on the creation of a new, two-group, 40-team third division called Primera División RFEF. CD Badajoz
Club Deportivo Badajoz is a Spanish football team based in Badajoz, in the autonomous community of Extremadura. Seed (sports)
A seed is a competitor or team in a sport or other tournament who is given a preliminary ranking for the purposes of the draw. Players/teams are "planted" into the bracket in a manner that is typically intended so that the best do not meet until later in the competition, usually based on regular season. The term was first used in tennis, and is based on the idea of laying out a tournament ladder by arranging slips of paper with the names of players on them the way seeds or seedlings are arranged in a garden: smaller plants up front, larger ones behind. Real Madrid Castilla
Real Madrid Castilla Club de Fútbol is a Spanish football team that plays in Primera Federación – Group 1 for the 2022–23 season. It is Real Madrid's reserve team. They play their home games at the Alfredo Di Stéfano Stadium with a capacity of 6,000 seats. Reserve teams in Spain play in the same league system as their senior team rather than a separate league.
