2021 Seattle Storm Season
The 2021 Seattle Storm season is the franchise's 22nd season in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Due to ongoing renovations at the Climate Pledge Arena, the Storm will play their home games at the Angel of the Winds Arena. On May 30, 2021, head coach Dan Hughes announced his retirement; the Storm named associate head coach Noelle Quinn as his permanent replacement. The Storm started the season with a finals rematch against the Las Vegas Aces. They split the series at home, 1–1. The rest of the opening month went smoother for the team, as that would be their only loss in May. Two of their wins game in overtime as well. The strong start continued into June, with the team winning their first two games of the month to extend their winning streak to six games. WNBA Western Conference
The Western Conference of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) is made up of six teams. From the league's second season in 1998 through 2015, the WNBA operated separate playoff brackets for its Eastern and Western Conferences. Each conference's playoff was divided into two playoff rounds, the Conference Semi-Finals and the Conference Finals, with the Conference Finals winners receiving Conference Championships and advancing to the WNBA Finals to determine the WNBA champion. In the final years of this playoff scheme, all in-conference playoff series were best-of-three. Since 2016, the league has abandoned separate conference playoffs in favor of a single league-wide playoff bracket. Aaliyah Wilson
Aaliyah Wilson (born August 28, 1998) is an American professional basketball player who is currently a free agent. She was selected 11th overall in the 2021 WNBA draft by the Seattle Storm and was traded to the Fever before the start of the season. Wilson is a native of Muskogee, Oklahoma. As a player as Muskogee High School, Wilson was named a McDonald's All-American and a Jordan Brand Classic All-American. She participated in Team USA trials in 2016 and 2017. Wilson started her college career at the University of Arkansas. She transferred to Texas A&M after her freshman season. During her senior season, she received first All-SEC honors for her career, was named to the All-SEC second team as a graduate student and received AP All-American honors. Natasha Howard (basketball)
Natasha Howard (born September 2, 1991) is an American professional basketball player for the New York Liberty of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) and Dynamo Kursk of the Russian Premier League. Howard was the 2019 WNBA Defensive Player of the Year. She was drafted in 2014 by the Indiana Fever. The New York Liberty are an American professional basketball team based in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. The Liberty compete in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) as part of the league's Eastern Conference. 2021 WNBA Draft
The 2021 WNBA draft was the WNBA's draft for the 2021 WNBA season. A draft lottery was held on December 4, 2020, and the New York Liberty were awarded the first overall pick once again in the draft. The draft was held on April 15, and televised on ESPN in the United States and on TSN2 in Canada at 7:00 p.m. EDT. Candice Dupree (born August 16, 1984) is an American professional basketball coach and former player. She was selected sixth in the 2006 WNBA draft by the Chicago Sky. Dupree has won a WNBA Championship (2014) with the Phoenix Mercury. She has also played professional basketball in Europe and Asia. N'dea Jones (born May 25, 1999) is an American professional basketball player who plays for BC Enisey of the VTB United League. She played college basketball for the Texas A&M Aggies and was drafted 23rd overall in the 2021 WNBA draft. She plays the power forward position. Jones was born in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
