The PNVF Challenge Cup, formerly the PNVF Champions League (PNVFCL), is a volleyball competition organized by the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF), the national sports association for volleyball in the Philippines. History Shortly after the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) gave full recognition for the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) as the national sports association for volleyball in the Philippines in February 2021, the PNVF announced plans to organize its own league, separate from the two existing commercial leagues, the Premier Volleyball League and the Philippine Super Liga. The Philippines have several other volleyball leagues, such as the UAAP collegiate leagues but none was officially recognized as the "national league". The PNVF announce that it would be organizing the first men's competition from September 19 to 26, 2021 under a bubble format. 2021 PNVF Champions League For Men
The men's division of the 2021 PNVF Champions League was held from November 29 to December 4, 2021. This is the inaugural edition of the PNVF Champions League. The winner of this tournament will be the country's representative to the Asian Men's Club Volleyball Championships in May next year. Participating teams Seven teams entered the 2021 PNVF Champions League. Four teams (Basilan, MRT-Negros, Sabong International, and Team Dasma) are provincial teams. Format The participating teams were drawn into two groups for the preliminary round which uses a single round robin format. The top two teams will advance to the semifinals. Benilde Lady Blazers Volleyball
The College of Saint Benilde Lady Blazers women's volleyball team is the volleyball teams of De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde. History The CSB Lady Blazers first joined NCAA women's volleyball tournament in 1998. They claimed their first NCAA women's volleyball championship in the NCAA Season 91 beating the thrice-to-beat San Sebastian Lady Stags in 4th sets on the do-or-die Game 4 of the NCAA Season 91 finals series. In 2022, CSB Lady Blazers bags the NCAA Season 97 women's volleyball tournament championship with no loss. Aside from NCAA, CSB Lady Blazers also play in the Shakey's Super League and V-League. 2023 PNVF Challenge Cup – Women's Division
The women's division of the 2023 PNVF Challenge Cup began on November 7, 2023. Starting from this season, the tournament formerly known as the PNVF Champions League would be known as the PNVF Challenge Cup. This marks as the third season of the league. DLS College of Saint Benilde were the champions. Participating teams The tournament was originally meant to enable local government units (cities, municipalities, and provinces) to hold their own volleyball programs. The Challenge Cup would be opened for school and club teams. By the end of October 2023, the PNVF has secured commitment from 17 women's teams. A team from Tagaytay previously committed to take part but withdrew which meant a total of 16 teams took part. UE Red Warriors refer to the collegiate men's varsity teams of the University of the East. The women's collegiate varsity teams are called the UE Lady Warriors. The Athletic director of the University of the East is Rodrigo M. Roque. Background The University of the East is one of eight schools participating in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. The UE Red Warriors teams have won UAAP championships in basketball, volleyball, fencing, table tennis and other sports. Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Crossovers
The Chery Tiggo Crossovers are a professional women's volleyball team in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL). The team is owned by United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAGI). The team debuted in the Philippine Superliga (PSL) during the 2014 Grand Prix as the Foton Tornadoes. Heading to the 2020 season, the team was renamed to Chery Tiggo Crossovers. On March 10, 2021, the team announced it has joined the professional PVL. They became the first-ever volleyball champions in a fully-professional league when they won the 2021 PVL Open Conference title.
