2021 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad (women's Race)
The 16th running of the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad women's race in Belgium was held on 27 February 2021. Widely regarded as the start of the Classics season, it was a 1.Pro event on the women's international calendar. The race followed a similar route to that of the men's race, but was shorter and more straightforward at only , starting in Ghent and finishing in Ninove. For the first time, the women's race finished an hour after the men's race, allowing for the final hour to be broadcast live on television. Teams Twenty-four teams, made up of all nine UCI Women's WorldTeams and fifteen UCI Women's Continental Teams, participated in the race. Each team entered a squad of six riders for a total of 144 riders, of which 111 finished. 2021 UCI Women's ProSeries
The 2021 UCI Women's ProSeries is the second season of the second-tier UCI Women's ProSeries road cycling tour, which sits below the UCI Women's World Tour but above the UCI Class 1 and Class 2 races. The 2021 season initially consisted of eight events, of which four each are one-day races ( 1.Pro) and stage races ( 2.Pro). Of these eight events, the only non-European event was the season-opening Women's Tour Down Under stage race in Australia. However, on 1 November 2020, it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving only the seven remaining European races. The other most notable event on the calendar is the Giro Rosa stage race. Lotte Kopecky (born 10 November 1995) is a Belgian road and track racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . In December 2017, she was named the Belgian Talent of the Year. She is a multiple world champion on the track, having won golds in the points race in 2021 and the madison in 2017. Elisa Longo Borghini (born 10 December 1991) is an Italian professional road cyclist, who rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . During her career, Longo Borghini has won two bronze medals in the road race at the Summer Olympic Games, taking third-place finishes in Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo. Grace Brown (born 7 July 1992) is an Australian road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . Brown competed in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. She just missed out on a medal in the women’s time trial, finishing fourth. She also competed in the women's road race where she came 47th. Career 2015-2018 seasons Brown started cycling in 2015 after previously being involved in running. She started 2018 riding for Holden Team Gusto Racing. She then joined British UCI team for the latter part of 2018 season after being selected as the recipient of the Amy Gillett Cycling Scholarship. Ninove () is a city and municipality located in the Flemish province of East Flanders in Belgium. It is situated on the river Dender, and is part of the Denderstreek.
