2021 Olympic Qualification Event – Curling
The Olympic qualification event (branded as the 2021 Olympic Qualification Event presented by Asito for sponsorship reasons) is an international curling tournament that was held from 5–18 December 2021 in Leeuwarden, Netherlands. The first international curling tournament to be hosted by the Netherlands, the event was the final qualifier for curling at the 2022 Winter Olympics, and was established as part of changes to the qualification process necessitated due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament was played between the men's, women's, and mixed doubles teams that qualified for the 2020 or 2021 World Curling Championships, but had yet to qualify for the Olympics, joined by additional teams who qualified through a pre-qualification tournament in November. Marie Kaldvee (born 23 January 1995 as Marie Turmann) is an Estonian curler from Järveküla, Estonia. She currently skips the Estonian women's curling team. Career Juniors Turmann played for the Estonian team at the 2012 Youth Winter Olympics, playing third on the team, which finished in last place. In the mixed doubles event, she was paired with Italy's Alessandro Zoppi. They would be eliminated after losing their only game. After playing in five European Junior Curling Challenges Turmann finally qualified for the World Junior Curling Championships in 2015. Turmann would skip the Estonian team there, with teammates Kerli Zirk, Kerli Laidsaulu and Johanna Ehatamm. The team finished the event with a 2–7 round robin record, missing the playoffs. is a Japanese curler from Nagano. She is the alternate of the Chubu Electric Power curling team, which won the Japan Curling Championships in both 2017 and 2019. She also won the championship three times with the former Chubu Electric team from 2012 to 2014. Klaudius Harsch (born 23 January 2001) is a Germans, German curling, curler from Kempten, Germany. Career Harsch made his first appearance at the World Junior-B Curling Championships in 2018 World Junior B Curling Championships, 2018. There, his team of Sixten Totzek, Joshua Sutor, Jan-Luca Häg and Till Wunderlich won the bronze medal game, sending them to the 2018 World Junior Curling Championships. At the championship, the team just missed the playoffs with a 4–5 record after losing their final round robin draw to Canada's Tyler Tardi. Their fifth-place finish earned the team a spot at the 2019 World Junior Curling Championships without having to qualify through the B Championship. Pia-Lisa Schöll (born 28 March 1991 in Oberstdorf) is a German curler. She is currently the alternate on the German national women's curling team, skipped by Emira Abbes. Career Juniors Schöll played third for Germany, skipped by Frederike Templin at the 2008 World Junior Curling Championships, placing last (10th place).
