The 2021 New Mexico Lobos football team represented the University of New Mexico in the 2021 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Lobos played their home games at University Stadium as members of the Mountain Division of the Mountain West Conference. They were led by second-year head coach Danny Gonzales. Previous season The Lobos finished the 2020 season 2–5. They were not invited to play in any post season bowl game. Danny Gonzales
Daniel Ray Gonzales (born January 13, 1976) is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the head football coach at the University of New Mexico. Prior to 2018, Gonzales had spent his college coaching career on Rocky Long's staffs at the University of New Mexico and San Diego State University. Playing career Gonzales attended University of New Mexico, where he was a three-year letterman for the New Mexico Lobos at punter and safety. As a senior, he won the Chuck Cumming Memorial award for morale and spirit, and the Lobo Club Award for unselfish devotion to the team. Coaching career Following his playing career, Gonzales joined the coaching staff at the New Mexico as a graduate assistant from 1999 to 2002. He served as the team's video coordinator from 2003 to 2005. He was then promoted to a full-time assistant, coaching the team's safeties, kickers, punters and long snappers from 2006 to 2008. 2021 Houston Baptist Huskies Football Team
The 2021 Houston Baptist Huskies football team represented Houston Baptist University—now known as Houston Christian University—as a member of the Southland Conference during the 2021 NCAA Division I FCS football season. Led by ninth-year head coach Vic Shealy the Huskies compiled an overall record of 0–11 with a mark of 0–8 in conference play, placing last out of six teams teams in the Southland. Sun Bowl (stadium)
The Sun Bowl is an outdoor football stadium in the southwestern United States, on the campus of the University of Texas at El Paso. It is home to the UTEP Miners of Conference USA, and the late December college football bowl game, the Sun Bowl. The stadium opened in 1963 and has a nominal seating capacity of 51,500, although UTEP currently lists the capacity as 46,670. History The stadium, named for the game it hosts, was opened in 1963 with a Texas Western win over North Texas State on September 21. 2021 UTEP Miners Football Team
The 2021 UTEP Miners football team represented the University of Texas at El Paso in the 2021 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Miners were led by fourth–year head coach Dana Dimel and played their home games at the Sun Bowl. They competed as members of the West Division of Conference USA (C–USA). For the first time since 2014, the Miners became bowl eligible. Previous season The Miners finished the 2020 regular season 3–5 and 0–4 in C–USA play to finish in last (seventh) in the West Division. ''SEC Network Football'' is a live game presentation of SEC football on the SEC Network. These telecasts have many different presenting sponsors, but some include Dr. Pepper, Allstate, and Regions Bank. There are typically 3 telecasts every Saturday during the college football regular season, though beginning in 2015, the SEC Network Alternate channel gets one game, usually during the 4:00 PM time slot. The 2021 Texas A&M Aggies football team represented Texas A&M University in the 2021 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Aggies played their home games at Kyle Field in College Station, Texas, and competed in the Western Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The New Mexico–New Mexico State football rivalry, known as the Battle of I-25 and the Rio Grande Rivalry in all sports, is an annual football game between the University of New Mexico and New Mexico State University.
