2021 NBL1 Season
The 2021 NBL1 season was the second season of the NBL1 after the 2020 season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With North and Central conferences introduced in 2020 alongside the South Conference, the NBL1 expanded further in 2021 with the inclusion of a West Conference. The 2021 season was the first to consist of multiple conferences and National participation, however the continued impact of the pandemic led to a disrupted and incomplete end to the season. NBL1
NBL1 is a semi-professional basketball list of basketball leagues, league in Australia, consisting of NBL1 South, South, NBL1 North, North, NBL1 Central, Central, NBL1 West, West and NBL1 East, East Conferences with both men's and women's competitions. Each conference is run by their respective state governing body, with the league including 76 clubs from across every state and territory. The league replaced the South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL), Australia's pre-eminent semi-professional basketball league between 1981 and 2018. Following the NBL1's inaugural season in 2019, the 2020 season saw the 2019 teams comprise the new South Conference and the former NBL1 North, Queensland Basketball League (QBL) and NBL1 Central, Premier League (South Australia) become the new North and Central Conferences. Sunday Dech
Sunday Dech (born 1 January 1994) is a South Sudanese-Australian professional basketball player for the Adelaide 36ers of the Australian National Basketball League (NBL). He is a two-time NBL champion with the Perth Wildcats, having won in 2014 and 2019. Dech played NCAA Division II college basketball for the Metro State Roadrunners and Barry Buccaneers. Early life Dech was born in Gambela, Ethiopia, as one of seven children to South Sudanese parents Abraham Dech and Aret Ochala. His family are members of the Anuak tribe. Teige Morrell (; born December 8, 1995) is an American professional basketball player for the Perth Lynx of the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL). She is also contracted with the Lakeside Lightning of the NBL1 West. She played college basketball for the Nevada Wolf Pack women's basketball, Nevada Wolf Pack before playing professionally in Australia. Mikhaela Cann (; born 30 April 1994) is an Australian professional basketball player. Career WNBL Cann began her career playing for the Australian Institute of Sport. After a two-year stint, she then signed in her home state, with the Logan Thunder. She would spend two seasons with the Thunder, until the team folded due to financial difficulties.
