2021 MPBL Invitational
The 2021 MPBL Invitational, officially known as the Chooks-to-Go MPBL Invitational powered by TM for sponsorship reasons, was an invitational tournament that serves as the prelude to the 2022–23 MPBL season. It commenced on December 11, 2021 and ended on December 23, 2021. The tournament was also the first for the MPBL since it was granted professional status by the Games and Amusements Board. The Invitational was also the first professional sports event in the Philippines to allow live audiences since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country, with the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, the venue for the tournament, only allowed to be at 50 percent capacity. Format The format for this tournament is as follows: * All teams will be divided into four groups playing in a single round-robin. * The top two teams in each group will advance to the single elimination-style playoffs. Basilan Peace Riders
Basilan-BRT Peace Riders are a professional basketball team in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League. History The Basilan Steel was the fifth expansion team of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League from Visayas and Mindanao. Then known as the Basilan Shooters Their application was accepted by the league in May 2018 who reasoned that they want to show the beauty of the team's home locality, Basilan, "thru basketball". They formally joined the MPBL on May 19, 2018, after the team entered into a contract with the league. They changed their name to the Basilan Steel by May 25, 2018. The team make their debut in 2018 Anta Datu Cup. In the 2019–20 MPBL Lakan season, the Basilan Steel reached the Division Finals. South Border is a Filipino pop and R&B band formed in the early 1990s who gained widespread recognition in the music scene in the mid 1990s to the 2000s. Origins and early years Originally formed in 1993, the band whose name is a tribute to their roots in Davao down south, first came into national prominence in 1996 when they launched their first self-titled album. Marikina Shoemasters are a Filipino professional basketball team in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) based in Marikina. It is one of 11 active teams based in Metro Manila, as well as one of four based in the Eastern Manila District. The team plays their home games at Marikina Sports Center. The Pilipinas Super League (PSL) is a professional basketball league in the Philippines. History The Pilipinas Super League (PSL) was founded in December 2021 by former officials of another league; the Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup. It was established by former VisMin Cup CEO Rocky Chan and former COO Chelito Caro. Chan assumed the post of PSL President and Caro as the league commissioner. Former professional basketballer Marc Pingris was appointed as commissioner in January 2022 succeeding Caro. The PSL aims to garner at least 10 teams for its inaugural season. Group A is a set of motorsport regulations administered by the FIA covering production derived vehicles intended for competition, usually in touring car racing and rallying. In contrast to the short-lived Group B and Group C, Group A vehicles were limited in terms of power, weight, allowed technology and overall cost. Group A was aimed at ensuring numerous entries in races of privately owned vehicles. The Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup, also known as GlobalPort Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup due to sponsorship reasons, is a professional basketball league in the Philippines. The league comprises teams from the Visayas and Mindanao regions of the Philippines. Christian Pierce Gaddi Luanzon (born January 22, 1983) is a retired Filipino-American professional basketball player in the Philippine Basketball Association who last played for the San Miguel Beermen.
