2021 Liberty Flames Football Team
The 2021 Liberty Flames football team represented Liberty University in the 2021 NCAA Division I FBS football season. They were led by third-year head coach Hugh Freeze and played their home games at Williams Stadium in Lynchburg, Virginia. The Flames competed as an FBS independent. They finished the regular season 7–5. The Flames received an invite to the LendingTree Bowl where they played Eastern Michigan, winning 56–20. Previous season In a season limited due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Flames finished the 2020 season 10–1; the team's only loss was a one point loss at NC State. AP Poll
The Associated Press poll (AP poll) provides weekly rankings of the top 25 NCAA teams in one of three Division I college sports: football, men's basketball and women's basketball. The rankings are compiled by polling 62 sportswriters and broadcasters from across the nation. Each voter provides their own ranking of the top 25 teams, and the individual rankings are then combined to produce the national ranking by giving a team 25 points for a first place vote, 24 for a second place vote, and so on down to 1 point for a twenty-fifth place vote. The 2021 Old Dominion Monarchs football team represented Old Dominion University during the 2021 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Monarchs played their home games at S.B. Ballard Stadium in Norfolk, Virginia, and competed in the East Division of Conference USA (CUSA). The team were coached by second-year head coach Ricky Rahne. On October 27, 2021, Old Dominion announced that this would be the last season for the team in the C-USA and become the Sun Belt Conference on July 1, 2022.
