2021 LCS Season
The 2021 LCS season was the fourth year of North America's League Championship Series, a professional esports league for the MOBA PC game ''League of Legends'', under partnership and the ninth overall. The pre-season Lock In tournament began on January 15 and concluded on January 31. The spring regular season began on February 5 and concluded on March 14. The Mid-Season Showdown, which replaced the spring playoffs, began on March 20 and concluded on April 11. The summer regular season began on June 4 and concluded on August 1. The three teams that qualified for the World Championship in 2021 were 100 Thieves, Team Liquid, and Cloud9. League Championship Series (esports)
The League Championship Series (LCS) is the top level of professional ''League of Legends'' in the United States and Canada. The esports league is run by Riot Games and has ten franchise teams. Each annual season of competition is divided into two splits, spring and summer, which conclude with a double-elimination tournament between the top eight teams. At the end of the season, the winner, runners-up and third-place team of the summer playoffs qualify for the annual ''League of Legends'' World Championship. With the exception of some touring events, all games of the LCS are played live at Riot Games' studios in Los Angeles, California. In addition to a small studio audience, all games are streamed live in several languages on Twitch and YouTube, with broadcasts regularly attracting over 300,000 viewers. Counter Logic Gaming (CLG) is an American esports organization headquartered in Los Angeles, California. It was founded in April 2010 by George "HotshotGG" Georgallidis and Alexander "Vodoo" Beutel as a ''League of Legends'' team, and has since branched out into other games. CLG fields the oldest ''League of Legends'' team still active, having competed in every split of the North American ''League of Legends'' Championship Series (NA LCS) since it began in Spring 2013. Eric Ritchie, better known as Licorice, is a Canadian professional ''League of Legends'' player for Golden Guardians of the League Championship Series (LCS). Prior to competing in the LCS, Ritchie played for LCS Challenger teams, such as Cloud9 Challenger and Team eUnited. Ritchie signed with Cloud9 ahead of the 2018 NA LCS season; in his rookie season, he was won the league's Rookie of the Split award and reached the semifinals at the 2018 League of Legends World Championship. Nicolaj Jensen, better known mononymously as Jensen, is a Danish professional ''League of Legends'' player for Cloud9. Earlier in his career, he was known as Veigodx and Incarnati0n. Jensen began as a player for Team Solo Mebdi, a team attempting to enter the European LCS via qualifier. He was banned for toxicity and DDOS attacks against other players. After his ban was lifted, Incarnati0n joined NA LCS team Cloud9 in 2015, replacing founding mid laner and strategist Hai on the roster, who had announced his retirement. In 2019, he joined Doublelift and former teammate Impact on Team Liquid. He was released from Team Liquid after the 2021 season in favor of his rival Bjergsen, who took over his position on Team Liquid. In 2022, he has since rejoined Cloud9. Lucas Tao Kilmer Larsen, better known as Santorin, is a Danish professional ''League of Legends'' player who is the jungler for Team Liquid of the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS). He has also played for Team Coast, Team SoloMid, Team Ember and Team Huma. Santorin joined TSM in November 2014. He won the 2015 Spring NA LCS with TSM. Philippe Laflamme, better known as Vulcan, is a Canadian professional ''League of Legends'' support for Evil Geniuses, in the League Championship Series (LCS). Previously, Vulcan has played for Cloud9 as well as Clutch Gaming, the team that drafted him. Professional career Clutch Gaming Vulcan was invited to the LCS proving grounds following the 2018 season, in which he showcased his skills, as well as his communication and teamwork. He was drafted fourth overall by Clutch Gaming, which gave the organization exclusive negotiation rights with Vulcan. Vulcan signed with Clutch, and entered the 2019 LCS season as their starting support, making his debut on January 26. The team had a rough start, going 5–13 in his first season, missing playoffs. Jesper Svenningsen (born 24 June 1997), better known as Zven (formerly Niels), is a Danish professional ''League of Legends'' player for Cloud9. He previously played for Team SoloMid, G2 Esports, Origen, and SK Gaming Prime. He had played for Origen and finished at 2015 Worlds semifinals. Then he joined G2 in May 2016 along with Mithy, ahead of the 2016 EU LCS Summer split. Zven joined Cloud9 for the 2020 LCS season wherein they won the Spring Split; Zven and Cloud9 won the 2021 Spring Split of the LCS as well. Luka Perković (born 30 September 1998), better known as Perkz (previously stylized as PERKZ and before that as PerkZ), is a Croatian professional ''League of Legends'' player for Team Vitality. From 2015 to 2020, Perkz was a member of G2 Esports, when the team became the first European organization to win the Mid-Season Invitational in 2019. He reached the World Championship final in 2019, and is the only player to ever win eight LEC titles. In November 2020, Perkz left G2 to join LCS organization Cloud9 for the 2021 season. He is widely regarded as one of the best western players in League of Legends history. Career Huni started his career in ''League of Legends'' as a part of the Samsung organization. He was one of the practice partners for the team, though he was never announced as an official substitute for the team.
