2021 Indianapolis 8 Hours
The 2021 Indianapolis 8 Hours was an endurance race held on 17 October 2021 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, in Indiana, United States. The event was open to cars in GT classes, namely GT3 and GT4. It was the second running of the Indianapolis 8 Hours. It was also the second leg of the 2021 Intercontinental GT Challenge and the seventh and final round of the 2021 GT World Challenge America. The GT World Challenge America results were determined by the race results after three hours instead of the full eight hours. The race was run on the SCCA Runoffs layout, not the INDYCAR Grand Prix layout as was done the previous year, as it was made necessary as a result of kerbing damage in the Turn 5-6 chicane during the Verizon 200 NASCAR-INDYCAR meeting. Speedway is a town in Wayne Township, Marion County, Indiana, United States. The population was 11,812 at the 2010 U.S. Census. Speedway, which is an enclave of Indianapolis, is the home of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. History Speedway was laid out in 1912 as a residential suburb. Corey Lewis (born October 17, 1991) is an American racing driver who currently competes for K-Pax Racing in the GT World Challenge America and Paul Miller Racing in the IMSA SportsCar Championship. Career Early career Lewis began his racing career at the age of 7, competing in regional karting series under the tutelage of Michael Andretti. In 2002, he collected the Stars of Karting Regional Championship, and two years later was scored runner-up in the World Karting Association National Series. In 2007, Lewis began competing at the Skip Barber Racing School, winning 14 of the 26 races he entered over the course of three years at the school. Mirko Bortolotti (born 10 January 1990) is an Italian racing driver from Trento.
