2021 Il Lombardia
The 2021 Il Lombardia was a road bicycle racing, road cycling one-day race that took place on 9 October 2021 in Italy. It was the 115th edition of Il Lombardia and the 37th event of the 2021 UCI World Tour. It was won by Tadej Pogačar in the sprint against Fausto Masnada. In the chasing group Adam Yates won the sprint for third place. Teams Twenty-five teams, consisting of all 19 UCI WorldTour teams and 7 UCI Professional Continental teams, of seven riders participated in the race. 2021 UCI World Tour
The 2021 UCI World Tour was a series of races that included twenty-nine road cycling events throughout the 2021 cycling season. The tour started with the opening stage of the UAE Tour on 21 February, and concluded with Il Lombardia on 9 October. Events The 2021 calendar was announced in the autumn of 2020. Cancelled events Due to COVID-19-related logistical concerns raised by teams regarding travel to Australia (including strict quarantine requirements), the Tour Down Under (19–24 January) and the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race (31 January) were cancelled. The organisers of the Tour Down Under held a "domestic cycling festival" known as the Santos Festival of Cycling in its place, which featured races in various disciplines (including a National Road Series event). Sergio Andrés Higuita García (born 1 August 1997) is a Colombian professional road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career He moved to EF Education First from UCI Continental team in May 2019, having initially been set to join in the summer. In August 2019, he was named in the startlist for the 2019 Vuelta a España. In early 2020 he finished 3rd in Paris-Nice and won the best young rider jersey. Diego Ulissi (born 15 July 1989) is an Italian road bicycle racer, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career Ulissi is a versatile, all-round cyclist who often wins stages and one-day races from breakaways and over hilly terrain. Remco Evenepoel (born 25 January 2000) is a Belgian cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . He is the son of Patrick Evenepoel, a former racing cyclist who won the 1993 Grand Prix de Wallonie.
