The 2021 IIHF World Championship Division IV was scheduled to be an international ice hockey tournament run by the International Ice Hockey Federation. The tournament would have been held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan from 3 to 5 March 2021. On 18 November 2020, the tournament was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Malaysia, Philippines, Iran and Singapore were all scheduled to debut in the world championships. 2022 IIHF World Championship Division IV
The 2022 IIHF World Championship Division IV was an international ice hockey tournament organised by the International Ice Hockey Federation. The tournament was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan from 3 to 8 March 2022. This was the first edition of the Division IV tournament, which had been cancelled the previous two years. Kyrgyzstan won the tournament, earning promotion to Division III Group B for 2023. Iran, Singapore and Malaysia were also promoted with Kuwait continuing to participate in Division IV. International Ice Hockey Federation
The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF; french: Fédération internationale de hockey sur glace; german: Internationale Eishockey-Föderation) is a worldwide governing body for ice hockey. It is based in Zurich, Switzerland, and has 83 member countries. The IIHF maintains the IIHF World Ranking based on international ice hockey tournaments. Rules of play for IIHF events differ from hockey in North America and the rules of the National Hockey League (NHL). Decisions of the IIHF can be appealed through the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland. The IIHF maintains its own hall of fame for international ice hockey. The IIHF Hall of Fame was founded in 1997, and has been located within the Hockey Hall of Fame since 1998. Bishkek
Bishkek ( ky, Бишкек), ), formerly Pishpek and Frunze, is the capital and largest city of Kyrgyzstan. Bishkek is also the administrative centre of the Chüy Region. Malaysia Men's National Ice Hockey Team
The Malaysian national ice hockey team ( ms, Pasukan hoki ais kebangsaan Malaysia) is the national men's ice hockey team of Malaysia. The team is controlled by the Malaysia Ice Hockey Federation and has been an associate member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) since 28 September 2006. Ice hockey was part of the 2017 SEA Games held in Kuala Lumpur. The IIHF announced that Malaysia will make its World Championship debut in 2020. The Philippines national ice hockey team is the national men's ice hockey team of the Philippines. They are controlled by the Federation of Ice Hockey League (FIHL) and a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) since 20 May 2016. The 2022 IIHF World Championship Division III was an international ice hockey tournament run by the International Ice Hockey Federation. The Group A tournament was held in Kockelscheuer, Luxembourg from 3 to 8 April and the Group B tournament in Cape Town, South Africa from 13 to 18 March 2022. After the tournament was cancelled the two previous years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all teams stayed put in their divisions. The United Arab Emirates secured the top spot in Group A and were promoted to Division I, while South Africa won the Group B tournament and were promoted to Group A. During the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russia and Belarus were suspended from the 2022 and 2023 editions of the World Championship.
