2021 Holland Ladies Tour
The 2021 Holland Ladies Tour, also known as the 2021 Simac Ladies Tour is a road cycling stage race that took place in the Netherlands between 24 and 29 August 2021. It was the 23rd edition of the Holland Ladies Tour, and part of the 2021 UCI Women's World Tour. Chantal Van Den Broek-Blaak
Chantal van den Broek-Blaak (née Blaak; born 22 October 1989) is a Dutch road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . In 2017 she became world road race champion in Bergen, Norway. Career Junior career Van den Broek-Blaak was the Dutch national junior time trial champion in 2006 and 2007. She was European under-23 road race champion in 2009 and was also third in the Ronde van Drenthe race of the UCI Women's Road World Cup in that year. Professional career Van den Broek-Blaak began her professional career in 2008 with the Dutch and remained with them until they disbanded at the end of 2012, after which she raced for the US team for a year. In 2014, she joined and won her first UCI Women's Road World Cup race, the Open de Suède Vårgårda. Individual Time Trial
An individual time trial (ITT) is a road bicycle race in which cyclists race alone against the clock (in French: ''contre la montre'' – literally "against the watch", in Italian: ''tappa a cronometro'' "stopwatch stage"). There are also track-based time trials where riders compete in velodromes, and team time trials (TTT). ITTs are also referred to as "the race of truth", as winning depends only on each rider's strength and endurance, and not on help provided by teammates and others riding ahead and creating a slipstream. Individual time trial are usually held on flat or rolling terrain, although sometimes they are held up a mountain road (in Italian: ''cronoscalata'' "chrono climbing"). Geleen
Geleen (; li, Gelaen ) is a city in the southern part of the province of Limburg (Netherlands), Limburg in the Netherlands. With 31,670 inhabitants in 2020, it is part of the municipality of Sittard-Geleen. Geleen is situated along the river Geleenbeek, a right tributary to the river Meuse. The Latin name for Geleenbeek is ''Glana'', meaning "clear river". The town centre is situated at about 60 m above sea level. Weert (; li, Wieërt ) is a municipality and city in the southeastern Netherlands located in the western part of the province of Limburg. It lies on the Eindhoven–Maastricht railway line, and is also astride the Zuid-Willemsvaart canal. Population centres The city of Weert Weert received city rights in 1414. Stramproy
Stramproy ( li, Rooj, is a village in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is located in the municipality of Weert. History The village was first mentioned in 1299 as Stramprode. Stramproy developed in the early middle ages on the edge of the Peel region. The St Willibrordus Church is a three aisled church built between 1922 and 1923 as a replacement of the medieval church. It has a tower on the side with a large needle spire. The tower was built in the 14th century and the spire was added around 1700. Stramproy was a separate municipality until 1998, when it was merged with Weert. Location Stramproy lies near the Dutch/Belgian border, about five kilometers south of the city limits of Weert. Gennep
Gennep () is a municipality and a city in upper southeastern Netherlands. It lies in the very northern part of the province of Limburg, 18 km south of Nijmegen. Furthermore, it lies on the right bank of the Meuse river, and south of the forest of the Klever Reichswald. The municipality of Gennep has 17,277 inhabitants (2014). The Niers river flows into the Meuse in Gennep. Alison Jackson (née Farkash; born 14 December 1988) is a Canadian professional racing cyclist, who rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . In April 2023, Jackson won Paris–Roubaix Femmes, described as the "biggest win of her career". Early life Jackson was born and raised on a bison farm in rural Alberta, the second of three children.
