2021 GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup
The 2021 Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup was the ninth season of the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup following on from the demise of the SRO Motorsports Group's FIA GT1 World Championship (an auto racing series for grand tourer cars) and the second season after title sponsor Blancpain withdrew sponsorship. The season began on 7 May at Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours in France and ended on 26 September at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia. Calendar Entry List Race results Bold indicates overall winner. GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup
The GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup, officially known as Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS for sponsorship reasons, formerly the FIA GT Series, is a sports car racing series organized by the Stéphane Ratel Organisation (SRO) with the approval of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). It was sponsored by Blancpain from 2014 to 2019, when it was variously branded as the Blancpain Sprint Series in 2014 and 2015, the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup in 2016 to 2018, and the Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe in 2019. In 2020, AWS was named 'Official Presenter' and the series was branded as "GT World Challenge Powered by AWS". Fanatec later joined as title sponsor in 2021, giving the series its current name. The championship now exclusively races in Europe, but had in previous years visited other continents, including Asia. Alex Fontana (born 5 August 1992 in Lugano) is a Swiss racing driver of Greek descent, currently racing as a professional driver in the GT4 European Series for Centri Porsche Ticino. Tse Wing Kin (謝榮鍵) (born 19 January 1979), also known as Kevin Tse, is a Hong Kong-born Macanese racing driver currently competing in the British GT Championship with Sky Tempesta Racing. Racing career Tse began his career in 2009 in the ADAC Volkswagen Polo Cup. He switched to the Chinese Volkswagen Scirocco Cup in 2010, finishing second in the championship standings that year. He also raced a couple of races in the GT Asia Series that season. He switched to the Macau AAMC Roadsport Series in 2011 and won the title that year. Adam Robert Christodoulou (born 11 June 1989, in Lichfield) is a Greek-British racing driver, who won the 2008 British Formula Renault Championship, also won the 2009 Star Mazda Championship in the United States. His less successful cousin Riki Christodoulou is also a racing driver, having competed in British Formula 3 Championship. Career Karting Christodoulou began his racing career in karting in Britain. His first competitive success came in the 2001 Kartmasters British Grand Prix - comer cadet where he came 1st in class, the first of many accolades in his burgeoning career. However in 2006 an MSA court found that Christodoulou had competed in a meeting at Rowrah on 5 June 2005 using illegally-modified engines. Ram Racing is a British endurance racing team based in Northamptonshire, England. The team was founded in 2012 by Dan Shufflebottom, whose motorsport background includes working as lead mechanic for Michael Schumacher during his time with Mercedes. Óscar Andrés Tunjo (born 5 January 1996) is a Colombian racing driver. Career Karting Born in Cali, Tunjo began his racing career in karting at the age of five in Colombian championships, collecting titles in various classes. In 2007 he moved to Europe, and competed in local karting series. Formula BMW Tunjo made his début in single-seaters in 2010 at the age of fourteen, taking part in the Formula BMW Pacific series for Meritus. Luca Stolz (born 29 July 1995) is a German racing driver who currently competes in the ADAC GT Masters and GT World Challenge Europe. Career Stolz began his racing career in 2007, competing in the Cadet class of the Belgian Karting Championship. He raced in karts until 2010, before moving into single-seaters in 2011. The Mercedes-AMG GT (C190 / R190) is a grand tourer produced in coupé and roadster bodystyles by German automobile manufacturer Mercedes-AMG.
