2021 Cleveland Indians Season
The 2021 Cleveland Indians season was the 121st season for the franchise. It was the ninth season under the leadership of manager Terry Francona and sixth under general manager Mike Chernoff (baseball), Mike Chernoff. The Indians played their home games at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio. This was the team's final season as under the name Indians. Following the season, the team became known as the Cleveland Guardians after Cleveland Indians name and logo controversy, decades of controversy surrounding the "Indians" name. The Indians made MLB history by becoming the first team to be no-hit three times in a single season. Those three no-hitters came off of Carlos Rodón of the Chicago White Sox on April 14, Wade Miley of the Cincinnati Reds on May 7, and Corbin Burnes and Josh Hader of the Milwaukee Brewers on September 11. American League Central
The American League Central is one of Major League Baseball's six divisions. This division was formed in the realignment of 1994 by moving three teams from the American League West and two teams from the American League East. Its teams are all located in the Midwestern United States. Along with the National League East, the AL Central is one of two divisions in the Major Leagues in which all of its members have won a World Series title. Carlos Antonio Rodón (born December 10, 1992) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played MLB for the Chicago White Sox and San Francisco Giants. Rodón is a two-time MLB All-Star. Rodón played college baseball at North Carolina State, and was drafted by the White Sox in the first round, with the third overall pick, of the 2014 MLB draft. Bryan Garcia (born April 19, 1995) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Houston Astros organization. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Detroit Tigers. Amateur career Garcia attended Christopher Columbus High School in Miami, Florida, known as the Lawn Mower where he played for the school's baseball team as a starting pitcher. Julio Alberto Teherán Pinto (born January 27, 1991) is a Colombian professional baseball pitcher in the San Diego Padres organization. Gregory Soto (born February 11, 1995) is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball (MLB). Matthew Robert Boyd (born February 2, 1991) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball (MLB). 2021 Detroit Tigers Season
The 2021 Detroit Tigers season was the team's 121st season and its 22nd at Comerica Park. This was the Tigers' first season under new manager A. J. Hinch following the sudden retirement of Ron Gardenhire on September 19, 2020. The Tigers' season began at home on April 1 against the Cleveland Indians. They sought to make the playoffs for the first time since 2014. On June 8, Comerica Park was allowed to return to operating at full seating capacity for the first time since 2019. The 2020 season was played behind closed doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, and April and May games this year were limited to 8,000 fans.
