2021 Challenge Tour
The 2021 Challenge Tour was a series of professional golf tournaments collectively known as the Challenge Tour. The Challenge Tour is Europe's official developmental tour and is organised by the PGA European Tour. It was introduced in 1986 and was originally called the Satellite Tour, before being renamed with its present title in 1990. Similarly to 2020, the season was to begin in February with three tournaments in South Africa co-sanctioned with the Sunshine Tour, but in mid-January the South African swing was postponed to April–May over COVID-19 pandemic concerns. The official schedule announcement was made on 27 January 2021. In April two back-to-back events in Sweden in May were added. In August, it was announced that the Hainan Open and the Foshan Open; both played in China, were cancelled. Marcus Helligkilde
Marcus Helligkilde (born 5 October 1996) is a Danish professional golfer. In 2021, he won the Vierumäki Finnish Challenge and Swiss Challenge on the Challenge Tour and finished the season as the winner of the Challenge Tour Rankings. Career As an amateur, Helligkilde won the 2015 Turkish Amateur Open Championship and represented Denmark at the 2016 Eisenhower Trophy and the 2017 European Amateur Team Championship. Helligkilde turned professional in late 2017 and joined the 2018 Nordic Golf League (NGL), where he recorded 10 top-10 finishes and secured his maiden professional title at the Ekerum Öland Masters in September. He finished fifth on the NGL Ranking to earn a Challenge Tour card for 2019. With limited success on the 2019 Challenge Tour, he found himself back on the 2020 NGL where he won the Lumine Hills Open in Spain in February. Limpopo Championship
The Limpopo Championship is a golf tournament on the Sunshine Tour played at Euphoria Golf & Lifestyle Estate in Modimolle, Limpopo province, South Africa. It was first played in March 2019 with prize money of R1,500,000. J. C. Ritchie won the event at the first hole of a playoff with Steve Surry. The second edition was played in early 2020. It was co-sanctioned with the Challenge Tour and had increased prize money of US$250,000 (R 3,500,000). Because of the large field, a second venue, Koro Creek Bushveld Golf Estate, was used for the first two rounds. Ritchie retained the title in 2020, beating Wilco Nienaber by two strokes. The 2021 event was played at Euphoria in April and was again co-sanctioned with the Challenge Tour with prize money of R3,000,000. Santiago Tarrío
} Santiago Tarrío Ben (born 21 November 1990) is a Spanish professional golfer who currently plays on the Challenge Tour where has won twice. Amateur career Tarrío started playing golf at the age of 7 and turned professional at the age of 17. Professional career Tarrío did not start competing internationally until 2016. He had played two events in Spain on the 2015 Alps Tour, missing the cut on each occasion. However he finished 4th at the Alps Tour Qualifying School at the end of 2015, to gain a regular place on the tour for 2016. Tarrío was runner-up in the 72-hole Alps Costa del Sol, three strokes behind Tom Shadbolt, and finished the season 26th on the Order of Merit. Daan Huizing
Daan Huizing (born 22 October 1990) is a Dutch professional golfer. Huizing entered the European Tour qualifying school at the end of 2012. Because of his high ranking as an amateur, he was exempt from the first stage of qualifying. He made it through to the third stage where he finished 80th, earning a place in some Challenge Tour events for 2013. Huizing won twice in 2013, at the Northern Ireland Open Challenge and two weeks later at the Kharkov Superior Cup. He was also joint runner-up in the Kärnten Golf Open and finished the year in sixth place in the Challenge Tour standings, and graduated to the European Tour for 2014. Irish Challenge
The Irish Challenge is a golf tournament on the Challenge Tour. In 2021 it was held at Portmarnock Hotel & Golf Links. The first event was played in October 2015 and was won by Tom Murray who beat Nino Bertasio at the second hole of a sudden-death playoff, winning the first prize of €28,800. Félix Mory
Félix Mory (born 20 March 1995) is a French professional golfer who plays on the Challenge Tour. He won the 2021 Dormy Open in Sweden. Amateur career Mory spent two seasons at Santa Barbara City College where he finished second at the Southern California Championship. He earned first team All-Western State Conference honors after finishing third in the conference, and was named Santa Barbara Athlete of the Year. The Dormy Open was a golf tournament on the Challenge Tour. It was first played in 2021 on the Öster by Stenson course at Österåker Golf Club in Åkersberga, Sweden, 20 km north-east of Stockholm. Craig Robert Howie (born 27 August 1994) is a Scottish professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. He won the 2021 Range Servant Challenge on the Challenge Tour. Amateur career Howie won the Scottish Boys Championship at Murcar Links in 2012. He led the Amateur Championship stroke-play qualifying at Carnoustie in 2015 and was a member of the Scottish team that won the European Amateur Team Championship in 2016. Wilco Nienaber (born 7 April 2000) is a South African professional golfer. He won the 2021 Dimension Data Pro-Am. He plays on the European Tour and is known for his long distance off the tee. The Dimension Data Pro-Am is an annual golf tournament on the Southern African Sunshine Tour, founded in 1996. The tournament was co-sanctioned by the European Tour for the first two years.
