2021 Central Arkansas Bears Football Team
The 2021 Central Arkansas Bears football team represented the University of Central Arkansas in the 2021 NCAA Division I FCS football season as a member of the ASUN Conference. The Bears were led by fourth-year head coach Nathan Brown and played their home games at Estes Stadium. The ASUN Conference and Western Athletic Conference announced the formation of the WAC-ASUN Challenge (AQ7) for the 2021 season on February 23, 2021. The Challenge included the four fully qualified Division I (FCS) members of the WAC ( Abilene Christian, Lamar, Sam Houston, and Stephen F. Austin) and Central Arkansas, Eastern Kentucky, and Jacksonville State of the ASUN Conference. The winner of the challenge received an auto-bid to the NCAA Division I FCS football playoffs. Nathan Brown (American Football)
Nathan Brown (August 19, 1986) is an American football coach and former player. He is head football coach at the University of Central Arkansas, a position he has held since the 2018 season. Early life Born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and raised in Russellville, Arkansas. He attended Russellville High School, where he was an All-State quarterback his senior season playing for head coach Jeff Holt. Brown was a three-year letterman at Russellville. His senior year he completed 242 of 353 passes for 3,385 yards and 33 TDs. He was named the KARV Dream Team Player of the Year, the Russellville Courier Dream Team and All-River Valley. 2021 Missouri State Bears Football Team
The 2021 Missouri State Bears football team represented Missouri State University as a member of the Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) for the 2021 NCAA Division I FCS football season. They were led by second-year head coach Bobby Petrino, and played their home games at Robert W. Plaster Stadium in Springfield, Missouri. This was the Bears 115th season overall and their 36th season as a member of the Missouri Valley Football Conference. The Bears came off a historic 2020 season which saw them return to the playoffs after a 30 year drought where they last made the playoffs in 1990. Entering the season the team was predicted to finish 6th in the conference. The Bears finished the regular season with an 8-3 record (5-2 in conference play) which was good enough for second place in the Valley and their best finish to a season since 1990. The 2021 Tarleton State Texans football team represented Tarleton State University in the 2021 NCAA Division I FCS football season. The Texans played their home games at Memorial Stadium in Stephenville, Texas, and were coached by Todd Whitten. Due to the NCAA's transition rules, they were not eligible for the 2021 FCS Playoffs. Provost Umphrey Stadium (previously Cardinal Stadium) is a 16,000-seat multi-purpose stadium located on the campus of Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas.
