2021 Big 12 Conference Softball Tournament
The 2021 Big 12 Conference softball tournament was held at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on May 14 and May 15, 2021. As the winner of the tournament, Oklahoma earned the conference's automatic bid to the 2021 NCAA Division I softball tournament. Most of the games of the tournament aired on ESPN+. However, the first game aired on ESPNU and the championship game aired on ESPN2. The Oklahoma Sooners came into the tournament with the best record from conference play at 16–1. Standings * Kansas did not participate in the tournament Format and seeding The top six teams based on conference winning percentage from the conference's regular season were seeded one through six. Teams were divided into two pools of three teams each. The winners of each pool advanced to the championship game. OGE Energy Field at the USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium is a softball-specific ballpark located inside the USA Softball Hall of Fame Complex in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, United States. It seats 13,000 and is the site of the annual Women's College World Series. The complex includes 4 fields: *OGE Energy Field *Integris Field (formerly Field 4) *Field 2 *Field 3 The complex is owned by the city and operated under a long-term lease by USA Softball with the exception of the office building, which USA Softball owns and uses for its headquarters. The Big 12 softball tournament (sometimes known simply as the Big 12 championship) is the conference championship tournament in college softball for the Big 12 Conference (Big 12). Tiare Rose Jennings (born June 5, 2002) is an American college softball player for the Oklahoma Sooners. As a freshman in 2021, she was named NFCA National Freshman of the Year, Softball America Freshman of the Year and was selected as a first-team All-American. Early life Tiare Rose Jennings was born to Maria and Ignacio Jennings in Torrance, California and grew up in San Pedro. She is of Samoan, Filipino and Mexican descent. Jennings played travel ball for the OC Batbusters, and won the 2019 USA Elite Select World Fastpitch Championship. High school career Jennings attended St. Anthony High School in Long Beach, California. During her freshman year, she was named the 2017 Southern Section Division 6 Player of the Year. Lynnsie Sarah Elam-Phillips (born May 27, 1998) is an American softball player for the Oklahoma City Spark of the Women's Professional Fastpitch (WPF) and current assistant coach at University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. She played college softball at Oklahoma Sooners softball, Oklahoma. High school career Elam played her high school softball career at Chickasha High School in Chickasha, Oklahoma. She led her team to 4 district championships, 3 regional championships, and 2 OSSAA state championships. Jayda Coleman (born September 27, 2001) is an American college softball player for the Oklahoma Sooners. She also represented the United States at the 2019 U-19 Women's Softball World Cup and USA Softball International Cup. High school career Coleman attended The Colony High School in The Colony, Texas. During her high school career she was a six-time All-State honoree and three-time All-American. During the 2017 season, she hit .653 with 12 home runs and 81 hits in 40 games, and she led the Dallas-Fort Worth area with 74 runs scored and 53 stolen bases as The Colony won the Class 5A state championship. Jocelyn Aloha Pumehana Alo (born September 23, 1998) is an American professional softball player for the Oklahoma City Spark of the Women's Professional Fastpitch (WPF). She played college softball player for the Oklahoma Sooners. As a freshman in 2018, she was named NFCA National Freshman of the Year, and named USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year in 2021 and 2022. She is the NCAA Division I career leader in home runs. Alo was drafted first overall by the Smash It Vipers in the inaugural WPF draft. High school career Alo attended James Campbell High School in ʻEwa Beach, Hawaii where she was a two-time Gatorade State High School Player of the Year and led her team to three state championships. Iowa State Cyclones Softball
The Iowa State Cyclones softball team represents Iowa State University (ISU) and competes in the Big 12 Conference of NCAA Division I. The team is coached by Jamie Pinkerton, he is in his 5th year at Iowa State. The Cyclones play their home games at the Cyclone Sports Complex on Iowa State's campus. The 2021 Oklahoma Sooners softball team was an American college softball team that represented the University of Oklahoma during the 2021 NCAA Division I softball season. 2021 NCAA Division I Softball Tournament
The 2021 NCAA Division I softball tournament was held from May 21 through June 10, 2021 as the final part of the 2021 NCAA Division I softball season. 31 teams were awarded automatic bids as champions of their conferences after the Ivy League opted out of the 2021 softball season. The remaining 33 were selected at-large by the NCAA Division I softball selection committee on May 16, 2021.
