2021 Arizona State Sun Devils Football Team
The 2021 Arizona State Sun Devils football team represented Arizona State University in the 2021 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Sun Devils played their home games at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona, and competed in the South Division of the Pac-12 Conference. They were led by fourth-year head coach Herm Edwards. Previous season The Sun Devils finished the 2020 season 2–2 and placed fourth in the South Division. The Sun Devils had games scheduled against Northern Arizona, UNLV, and BYU, but these games were cancelled due to the Pac-12's decision to only play conference games due to the COVID–19 pandemic. Herm Edwards
Herman Edwards Jr. (born April 27, 1954) is an American football coach and former cornerback who was most recently the head football coach at Arizona State. He played in the National Football League (NFL) for ten seasons, primarily with the Philadelphia Eagles. Edwards was also a head coach in the NFL from 2001 to 2008 with the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs. Following the conclusion of his NFL coaching career, Edwards was a football analyst at ESPN from 2009 to 2017. He returned to coaching in 2018 when he was named the head coach of Arizona State's football team. As a player, Edwards is known for scoring the game-winning touchdown off a fumble recovery in 1978's Miracle at the Meadowlands. The California Golden Bears football program represents the University of California, Berkeley in college football as a member of the Pac-12 Conference at the NCAA Division I FBS level. In American football, the long snapper (or deep snapper) is a center on special teams whose duty is to snap the football over a longer distance, typically around 15 yards during punts, and 7–8 yards during field goals and extra point attempts.
