2020–21 Washington Wizards Season
The 2020–21 Washington Wizards season was the 60th season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and 48th in the Washington, D.C. area. This was the first season since 2009–10 without long-time point guard and former first-overall draft pick John Wall on the roster, as he was traded to the Houston Rockets for Russell Westbrook on December 2, 2020. The trade reunited Westbrook with Wizards head coach Scott Brooks, who was Westbrook's coach from 2008–2015, when he played for the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Wizards qualified for the playoffs for the first time since the 2017–18 season following a victory over the Indiana Pacers in the Play-in Tournament. They lost to the top seeded Philadelphia 76ers in five games in the first round. Following the season, Scott Brooks and the Wizards agreed to part ways after not being able to agree to a new contract. Scott Brooks
Scott William Brooks (born July 31, 1965) is an American professional basketball coach and former player who is the top assistant coach for the Portland Trail Blazers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played point guard at San Joaquin Delta College and Texas Christian University before playing his last two years at the University of California, Irvine. He was inducted into UCI's Hall of Fame in 2001. Early life and college Born in French Camp, California on July 31, 1965, Brooks graduated from East Union High School at Manteca, California in 1983. As a freshman, he played college basketball at Texas Christian University for a season and then transferred for his sophomore year to San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton, California, about 10 miles from his parents' home in Lathrop, California. 2017–18 Washington Wizards Season
The 2017–18 Washington Wizards season was the 57th season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and 45th in the Washington, D.C. area. The Wizards played their home games at newly named Capital One Arena. They finished the regular season with a record of 43–39, which clinched the 8th seed. In the playoffs, the Wizards faced the top-seeded Toronto Raptors in the First Round, and lost in 6 games. Until 2021, This season marked the last time the Wizards made the playoffs. Previous season The Wizards finished the 2016–17 season 49–33 to finish in first place in the Southeast Division. They received the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs where they defeated the Atlanta Hawks in the first round of the playoffs, winning the series 4–2. Tony Brown (basketball)
Anthony William Brown is an American professional basketball coach and former player. He formerly played in the NBA and internationally after a collegiate career with the Arkansas Razorbacks. Brown served as the interim head coach of the Brooklyn Nets in 2016. Playing career The New Jersey Nets selected Brown in the fourth round of the 1982 NBA Draft as the 82nd overall pick.
