The 2021–22 Tanzanian Premier League (known as the NBC Premier League for sponsorship reasons) is the 56th season of the Tanzanian Premier League, the top-tier football league in Tanzania (mainland only), since its establishment in 1965. The season started on 6 August 2020. The season ended with Simba S.C. clinching their 21st premier league title. The Tanzania Mainland Premier League () is the top-level professional association football, football league in Tanzania and is administered by the Tanzania Football Federation. History The league was first organised in 1921 in Dar es Salaam. By 1929, it had six participants. In the 1930s, it included street teams such as Arab Sports (Kariakoo) and New Strong Team (Kisutu), made up mainly of Arabs and Africans respectively. The Sudanese community also had its own team, though it included other ethnicities as well. It joined the league in 1941. Other contemporary teams included the Khalsas, an exclusively Sikh team, and the Ilala Staff, a team with Ilala District, Ilalan residents. In 1942, clubs from public institutions such as the Government School, Post Office, Railways SC, King's African Rifles SC, Police SC and Medical Department started to dominate the league. Kassim Majaliwa Majaliwa (born 22 December 1961) is a Tanzanian politician who has been Prime Minister of Tanzania since 2015. He was appointed by President John Magufuli after the 2015 general election. He is a member of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi party and has been a Member of Parliament for Ruangwa constituency since 2010. Background and education Majaliwa was born into a Muslim family on December 22, 1961. He completed his schooling from Kigonsera Secondary School in 1983. Lindi is a historic southern Tanzanian coastal small city and regional capital of the Lindi Region located at the far end of Lindi Bay, on the Indian Ocean in southeastern Tanzania. Dodoma ( in Gogo), officially Dodoma City, is the national capital of Tanzania and the capital of the Dodoma Region, with a population of 410,956.
