2020–21 Serbian First League
The 2020–21 Serbian First League was the 16th season of the Serbian First League since its establishment. League format The league consisted of 18 teams: ten teams from the 2019–20 Serbian First League and eight new teams promoted from 2019–20 Serbian League. Teams played each other in double round-robin format, with top two teams being promoted to Serbian SuperLiga and bottom eight teams being relegated to Serbian League. Serbian First League
The Serbian First League ( sr, Прва лига Србије / Prva liga Srbije), referred to as the Mozzart Bet First League ( sr, Моцарт Бет Прва лига / Mozzart Bet Prva liga) for sponsorship reasons, is the name for the second tier in professional Serbia's football league. The league was formed in 2005, following a reshuffle of the second tier Serbo-Montenegrin divisions. It is operated by the Football Association of Serbia. Format The league is usually formed by 16 clubs which play all against one another twice, once at home, once away. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the Football Association of Serbia completed a restructure of the league system, and in season 2020/2021 that meant 18 clubs would be competing in the Serbian First League, the number of clubs will go back to the usual 16 following the conclusion of the 2020-2021 season. Serbian League
The Serbian League () is the third level football league in Serbia. It consists of four groups, namely Belgrade, East, Vojvodina, and West. The winner of each group earns promotion to the Serbian First League. RFK Grafičar Beograd (Serbian Cyrillic: РФК Графичар Београд) is a football club based in Senjak, Belgrade, Serbia. Grafičar has a reputation as an old traditional Belgrade club. Initially, it was financed by the printing industry of major city publishers of books, magazines and newspapers. FK Budućnost Dobanovci () is a football club based in Dobanovci, Belgrade, Serbia. They compete in the Serbian League Belgrade, the third tier of the national league system. History Founded in 1920, the club won the Serbian League Belgrade in the 2015–16 season and took promotion to the Serbian First League. They finished 10th in their first appearance in the second tier of Serbian football. The club subsequently made its Serbian Cup debut in the 2017–18 campaign, upsetting Voždovac in the first round on penalties. FK Zlatibor Čajetina () is a football club based in Čajetina, Serbia. They compete in the Serbian League West, the third tier of the national league system. History In the 2013–14 season, the club won the Zlatibor District League with an amazing record, 25 wins and one draw (scoring 128 goals and conceding just six times in the process), thus earning promotion to the Drina Zone League. Fudbalski klub Novi Pazar () is a professional football club from Novi Pazar, Serbia. The club was formed in 1928 as FK Deževa. FK Novi Pazar compete in the Serbian SuperLiga and play their home games at the 12,000 capacity Novi Pazar City Stadium. FK Metalac Gornji Milanovac () is a professional football club based in Gornji Milanovac, Serbia. They compete in the Serbian First League, the second tier of the national league system. History The club was founded as FK Radnik on 12 June 1961. The initiative came from Miroslav Spasojević, a former FK Takovo player, and was backed by two local companies, Graditelj and Metalac. The club was immediately registered with the Čačak Football Subassociation and started competing in the local leagues. They would change their name to FK Metalac in 1965. The club made its first notable achievement by qualifying for the Yugoslav Cup in 1974, but lost away to Borac Travnik in the opening round. OFK Bačka (Serbian Cyrillic: ОФК Бачка) is a football club based in Bačka Palanka, Serbia. In 2016, the club achieved promotion to the Serbian SuperLiga. It is known as one of the most successful football clubs in Serbia at the all time table of the Yugoslav Second League. Origins and rise The club was founded in 1945 and plays in the stadium Stadion Slavko Maletin Vava, capacity of 2,500, which was officially inaugurated on 7 July 1951. The 2020–21 Serbian SuperLiga (known as the Linglong Tire SuperLiga for sponsorship reasons) was the fifteenth of the Serbian SuperLiga since its establishment. Red Star were the defending champions from the previous season. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the 2019–20 Serbian SuperLiga season, no club has been relegated to the Serbian First League, and four clubs from the 2019–20 Serbian First League were promoted to the 2020–21 Serbian SuperLiga. Fudbalski klub Smederevo 1924 ( sr-cyr, Фудбалски клуб Смедерево 1924), commonly known as Smederevo, is a Serbian professional football club based in Smederevo. During Yugoslavia the club mainly played in amateur ranks of competition. Sartid Smederevo as the club was known in this era (''Srpsko akcionarsko rudarsko topioničarsko industrijsko društvo'') managed to beat Crvena Zvezda 1–0 in the 2002–03 Serbia and Montenegro Cup final at Partizan Stadium, achieving the club's greatest success in its history. FK Sinđelić Beograd () is a football club based in Voždovac, Belgrade, Serbia. They compete in the Serbian League Belgrade, the third tier of the national league system. History Founded in 1937, the club was named after the historical Serbian figure Stevan Sinđelić. They became part of a newly formed FD Drvodeljac in 1945. The club would merge with FD Građevinac to form FD Graditelj in 1946. They changed their name to Gvožđar in 1950 and finally to Sinđelić in the same year.
