2020–21 Saudi Second Division
The 2020–21 Saudi Second Division was the 45th season of the Saudi Second Division since its establishment in 1976. The season started on 30 October 2020 as a consequence of the postponement of the previous season's conclusion due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The group stage draw was held on 22 September 2020. The final was played on 19 April 2021 between Al-Akhdoud and Al-Orobah. Al-Akhdoud defeated Al-Orobah 4–2 on penalties (3–3 after extra time) to win their second title and first since 1992. Overview Changes As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, all football competitions in Saudi Arabia were suspended until further notice on 14 March 2020. On 11 June 2020, the Saudi Football Federation announced that the Third Division would be abandoned at the quarter-finals stage and that the remaining 8 teams would be promoted to the Second Division. Saudi Second Division
The Saudi Second Division , also known as the Second Division League (SDL), is a football league that is the third tier of the Saudi Arabian football league system. The league consists of 32 teams divided into two groups and was founded in 1996. Promotion and relegation The top 3 teams are promoted to the First Division League. The first two teams of each group will advance directly to the First Division League, and the second two teams of each group will compete in two round-trip matches, and the winning team will advance to the First Division League as the third team. The bottom two clubs of each group are relegated to the Third Division League. Al-Ansar Football Club ( ar, نادي الأنصار) is a Saudi Arabian professional multi-sports club based in Medina that plays in the Saudi Second Division, the third tier of Saudi football. The 2019–20 Prince Mohammad bin Salman League was the 3rd season of the Prince Mohammad bin Salman League under its current name, and 43rd season of the Saudi First Division since its establishment in 1976. The 2021–22 Saudi Second Division was the 46th season of the Saudi Second Division since its establishment in 1976. The season began on 29 September 2021 and concluded on 20 April 2022 with the final. The group stage draw was held on 8 June 2021. The season was originally scheduled to conclude on 16 April with the final. However, it was announced that both the final and third-place play-off would be postponed due to an ongoing investigation into match-fixing allegations. The investigation was concluded on 12 April with no evidence of any match-fixing and the new date for the final was announced as 20 April.
