2020–21 National Independent Soccer Association Season
The 2020–21 NISA season was the second season of the National Independent Soccer Association's third-division soccer competition. The regular season was split into two halves, Fall and Spring, with playoffs at the end of each, and a Championship Match that had the Fall champion host the Spring champion. This season also saw the introduction of a new cup competition, the NISA Independent Cup, that features independent clubs from various professional and semi-professional leagues across the United States. Teams The eight teams that participated in the inaugural 2019-20 NISA season were joined by three expansion teams: New York Cosmos and New Amsterdam FC for the full season. Two of the existing teams, San Diego 1904 and Stumptown Athletic, announced that they will not participate in the Fall season, but intend to return for the Spring season. The New York Cosmos is an American professional association football, soccer club based in Uniondale, New York, that plays in the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA). The club has previously competed in the North American Soccer League (2011–2017), North American Soccer League (NASL). With the NASL, the team won the Soccer Bowl, Soccer Bowl Trophy in Soccer Bowl 2013, 2013, Soccer Bowl 2015, 2015, and Soccer Bowl 2016, 2016. Keyworth Stadium
Keyworth Stadium is a 7,933 seat multi-purpose stadium located in Hamtramck, Michigan, an enclave of Detroit. It was opened by former president Franklin Delano Roosevelt on October 15, 1936, during his second campaign for president. Keyworth was the first Works Progress Administration project in the state of Michigan. Democratic Senator John F. Kennedy spoke at Keyworth Stadium during his successful 1960 presidential campaign. The stadium is owned by Hamtramck Public Schools and it is currently used mostly for soccer and American football matches. Orange County Great Park
The Great Park is a public park located in Irvine, California, with a focus on sports, agriculture, and the arts. It is a non-aviation reuse of the decommissioned Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) El Toro. The Orange County park comprises 28.8% of the total area that once made up the air base. The club was formed in 2018 by a group of Oakland natives, and began play in the National Independent Soccer Association in the fall of 2019.
