2020–21 Duke Blue Devils Women's Basketball Team
The 2020–21 Duke Blue Devils women's basketball team represented Duke University during the 2020–21 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Blue Devils were led by first year head coach Kara Lawson and played their home games at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. During the off-season, Duke announced that head coach Joanne P. McCallie, Joanne McCallie had retired after thirteen years as head coach. On July 11, 2020, Kara Lawson was announced as the new head coach. On December 25, 2020, it was announced that the team would end their season due to COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, COVID-19 concerns. Kara Lawson
Kara Marie Lawson (born February 14, 1981) is the head coach of the Duke Blue Devils women's basketball team. She is a former American professional women's basketball player in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) and a basketball television analyst for ESPN and the Washington Wizards. Lawson primarily played as a shooting guard. She won a gold medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China, a championship with the Sacramento Monarchs in the 2005 WNBA Finals, and coached the United States women's national 3x3 team to gold in the 2020 Summer Olympics. Lawson retired from the WNBA in 2015 to focus on her broadcasting career. She began her coaching career as an assistant coach for the Boston Celtics of the NBA in 2019. Cibolo is a city in Guadalupe County, Texas, United States. It is part of the San Antonio–New Braunfels metropolitan statistical area. Lompoc ( ; Chumash: ''Lum Poc'') is a city in Santa Barbara County, California. Located on the Central Coast, Lompoc has a population of 43,834 as of July 2021. Leaonna Laneah Odom (born March 26, 1998) is an American professional basketball player who is currently a free agent in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA).
