2020–21 Belgian Basketball Cup
The 2020–21 Belgian Basketball Cup, for sponsorship reasons the Euromillions Cup, was the 67th edition of Belgium's national basketball cup tournament. Antwerp Giants were the defending champions, but lost the quarter-finals against Oostende, who would go on to win the Cup outright. On 2 July 2020, a new format and draw were announced by the EuroMillions League. Six teams from the Top Division Men, the national second division, were joined by all Pro Basketball League (PBL) teams for a group stage. The format was changed again in December 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The competition returned to its former format with only PBL teams. The final was played on 21 March in Palais 12. Limburg United, for sponsorship reasons named Hubo Limburg United, is a professional basketball club based in Hasselt, Limburg, Belgium. Founded in 2014, the club plays in the BNXT League, the first tier of basketball in Belgium. The team plays its home games in Sporthal Alverberg. Limburg has won one trophy, the Belgian Cup in 2021–22 Belgian Basketball Cup, 2022. History Around the beginning of 2014 Limburg United was founded in the city of Hasselt. The name expressing the founders' motivation for there to be a top tier basketball team from Limburg province in the aftermath of Bree B.B.C. relegating from BLB Division I in 2008 and eventually disbanding. Limburg United asked for a B-licence for the 2014–15 Basketball League Belgium, and eventually got it. 2020–21 Pro Basketball League
The 2020–21 Pro Basketball League (PBL) was the 94th season of the Pro Basketball League, the highest professional basketball league in the Belgium. The regular season was supposed to start in September 2020 but was delayed to 2 October 2020 due to new coronavirus restrictions. It is the last season as the PBL, as in the following season the multinational BNXT League commences. It will be the first season after the 2019–20 season was ended prematurely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
