2020 Vuelta A San Juan
The 2020 Vuelta a San Juan was a road cycling stage race that took place in the San Juan Province of Argentina between 26 January and 2 February 2020. The race is rated as a 2.Pro event as part of the 2020 UCI America Tour and the 2020 UCI ProSeries, and was the 38th edition of the Vuelta a San Juan. Teams Twenty-seven teams were invited to the race. Of these teams, six are UCI WorldTour teams, five are UCI Professional Continental teams, nine are UCI Continental teams, and seven are national teams. While the six Argentinean teams (, Argentina, , , , and ) entered seven riders, the other 21 teams submitted six riders, resulting in a starting peloton of 168 riders, of which 155 riders finished the race. 2020 UCI America Tour
The 2020 UCI America Tour was the sixteenth season of the UCI America Tour. The season began on October 23, 2019 with the Vuelta a Guatemala and ended on November 1, 2020. The points leader, based on the cumulative results of previous races, wears the UCI America Tour cycling jersey. Throughout the season, points are awarded to the top finishers of stages within stage races and the final general classification standings of each of the stages races and one-day events. The quality and complexity of a race also determines how many points are awarded to the top finishers, the higher the UCI rating of a race, the more points are awarded. The UCI Continental Circuits are a series of road bicycle racing competitions which were introduced in 2005 by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) to expand cycling around the world. Fernando Gaviria
Fernando Gaviria Rendón (born 19 August 1994) is a Colombian professional road and track racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . He is well known as a sprinter. Riding for the Colombian national cycling team, Gaviria came to international attention at the 2015 Tour de San Luis, where he beat former world champion Mark Cavendish in two sprint finishes. His first major Grand Tour wins came at the 2017 Giro d'Italia. He is the brother of track cyclist Juliana Gaviria. His nickname is "Quetzal splendente", from the brightful and colourful South American bird Quetzal. Its colours recall his world championship titles, his Colombia and "la maglia Ciclamino" won at Giro d'Italia. Pocito Department
Pocito is a department in San Juan Province, Argentina. It is located to the south of the city of San Juan, and is predominantly agricultural, the principal products being grapes and olives. It has a string of prestigious wineries that make up the so-called "Wine Route". The west part of the department is mountainous. Origin of name "Pocito" means "little pit" or "little hole" and was named after a supposed "little hole" where the legendary India Mariana found golden nuggets (See below). The Russian Cycling Federation or ФВСР (in Russian: Федерация велосипедного спорта России) is the national governing body of cycle racing in Russia. Its headquarters are located in Moscow.
