2020 Sacramento Republic FC Season
The 2020 Sacramento Republic FC season was the club's seventh season of existence. The club played in the USL Championship (USLC), the second tier of the American soccer pyramid. Sacramento Republic FC competed in the Western Conference of the USL Championship. This article covers the period from November 18, 2019, the day after the 2019 USLC Playoff Final, to the conclusion of the 2020 USLC Playoff Final, scheduled for November 12–16, 2020. Sacramento Republic FC is an American professional soccer team based in Sacramento, California, that plays in the Western Conference of the USL Championship, the second level in US soccer. Co-founded by Warren Smith and Joe Wagoner in 2012, the team started play in 2014 at the 20,231-seat Hughes Stadium, before moving midseason to their current home at Heart Health Park. Republic won the 2014 USL championship and have made the playoffs four times. With fan support and attendance, the team prepared an expansion bid for the top level Major League Soccer, which was submitted in January 2017. On May 15, 2017, MLS bid proponent Sac Soccer & Entertainment Holdings, led by Kevin Nagle, officially acquired Sacramento Republic FC from president and co-founder Warren Smith. Romuald Peiser
Romuald Désiré Peiser (born 3 August 1979) is a French former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He currently serves as the goalkeeper coach for CF Montreal of the MLS. Football career Peiser was born in Phalsbourg, Moselle. After unsuccessfully emerging through Paris Saint-Germain FC's youth system – only appeared for the reserves – he played in Germany with Bayer Leverkusen II and KFC Uerdingen, both in the lower leagues; subsequently, he spent one season in the Swiss Challenge League with FC Vaduz. Cameron Toshiro Iwasa (born July 7, 1993) is an American former professional soccer player. Career College and amateur Iwasa spent his entire college career at UC Irvine. He made a total of 85 appearances for the anteaters and tallied 22 goals and 14 assists. He also played in the Premier Development League for OC Pateadores Blues. Sam Werner (born December 3, 1995) is a former American soccer player who previously played for Sacramento Republic FC in the USL Championship. Career College Werner played four years of college soccer at Stanford University between 2014 and 2017, where he made 67 appearances, scoring 9 goals and tallying 9 assists.
