2020 Queensland Cup
The 2020 Queensland Cup season was to be the 25th season of Queensland's top-level statewide rugby league competition run by the Queensland Rugby League. On 27 March, the competition, known as the Intrust Super Cup due to sponsorship from Intrust Super, was cancelled after one round due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was the first time the competition would not be played out since its inaugural season in 1996. Teams In 2020, the lineup of teams remained unchanged for the sixth consecutive year. On 13 December 2019, the Newcastle Knights formed a partnership with the Ipswich Jets but did not send players to the club. The cancelled 2020 season was the final year that the Brisbane Broncos and Redcliffe Dolphins were affiliated, having partnered since 2006. Queensland Cup
The Queensland Cup, currently known as the Hostplus Cup for sponsorship reasons, is the highest-level regional rugby league football competition in Queensland, Australia. It is run by the Queensland Rugby League (QRL) and is contested by fourteen teams, twelve of which are based in Queensland, with one based in New South Wales and one in Central Province, Papua New Guinea. The competition is the present-day embodiment of Queensland's top-level club competition. Rick Stone
Rick Stone (born 14 February 1967) is a professional rugby league football coach and former player. He has coached the Newcastle Knights in the National Rugby League, the Huddersfield Giants in the Super League, the Sydney Roosters in the NRL Women's Premiership, and the Fiji national rugby league team, Fijian and Lebanon national rugby league team, Lebanese national teams. Playing career Stone played for the South Sydney Rabbitohs, appearing in a handful of first-grade games in the 1989 Winfield Cup premiership. Stone played for and later captain coached the Nambucca Heads Roosters in the Group 2 Rugby League winning two premierships in 1992 and 1993. Stadium Mackay, currently known as its Naming rights, sponsored name BB Print Stadium Mackay, is a rectangular football stadium situated in Mackay, Queensland, Mackay, Queensland, Australia. The Mackay Cutters are a semi-professional rugby league football club based in Mackay, Queensland, Mackay, Queensland. They compete in Queensland's top rugby league competition, the Queensland Cup. Nathaniel Neale
Nathaniel Neale (born 16 September 1988) is a New Zealand professional rugby league footballer. He previously played for the South Sydney Rabbitohs in the National Rugby League. He primarily plays as a and second-rower. Background Neal was born and raised in Westmere, a central suburb of Auckland, New Zealand. North Ipswich Reserve
North Ipswich Reserve presently known as Qld Group Stadium and formally Bendigo Bank Oval due to naming rights is a sports venue in Ipswich, Queensland. Originally an Australian rules football (and later cricket) oval, it became a primarily rugby league venue in the 1920s as that code experienced an explosion in local popularity. It is currently home to the Ipswich Jets, who play in the Queensland Wizard Cup. On occasion the venue plays host to National Rugby League trial matches, most recently when the Sydney Roosters played the Jets. Melbourne Storm
The Melbourne Storm are a rugby league club based in Melbourne, Victoria in Australia that participates in the National Rugby League. The first fully professional rugby league team based in the state, the Storm entered the competition in 1998. The Storm were originally a Super League initiative, created in 1997 during the Super League war, however, following the Super League collapse, the team became a part of the newly formed, united competition. The club play their home games at AAMI Park. The Storm have won four premierships since their inception, in 1999, 2012, 2017 and 2020, and have contested several more grand finals, but were stripped of the 2007 and 2009 premierships following salary cap breaches. Craig Hodges (rugby League)
Craig Hodges (born 27 December 1973) was the interim co-coach of the Gold Coast Titans in the NRL. Hodges and Luke Burt were the co-caretakers at the Gold Coast until the end of the 2019 NRL season, they were replaced by incoming head coach Justin Holbrook ahead of the 2020 NRL season. Craig is now a facilitator at Leading Teams. Coaching career Hodges was an assistant coach at the Titans under previous head coach Garth Brennan. He was an assistant coach to Paul Green at Wynnum Manly. Hodges recorded back-to-back 2011-12 Queensland Cup titles with the Wynnum Manly Seagulls. Hodges then coached the Norths Devils, before taking charge of the Brisbane Broncos under 20s side between 2013 and 2016. Langlands Park
Langlands Park is a sporting venue in the suburb of Stones Corner, in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It is the home ground of the Brisbane Tigers, a rugby league team that competes in the Queensland Cup. History Langlands Park is named for ''Langlands,'' which was the name of the residence that previously existed on the property (owned by merchant Reuben Nicklin). When the property was subdivided, it was in part retained as a sporting reserve. This became the home of the Eastern Suburbs Cricket club, and was large enough to house two cricket fields. The Brisbane Tigers are a rugby league club based at Langlands Park, in the suburb of Coorparoo in Brisbane, Australia. Since 1996, they have competed in the Queensland Cup, having competed in the Brisbane Rugby League from 1934 to 1997, where they won eight premierships. David Faiumu
David Faiumu (born 30 April 1983) is a former professional rugby league footballer who last played for the Huddersfield Giants in the Super League. A Samoa and New Zealand international representative forward, he previously played in the National Rugby League for the North Queensland Cowboys. Browne Park
Browne Park is a rectangular football stadium located in the Rockhampton suburb of Wandal, Queensland, Australia. The venue has been the home of rugby football in Central Queensland since 1890 and today also hosts rugby union and soccer matches. It hosted a match of the 2008 Rugby League World Cup.
