2020 Ontario Scotties Tournament Of Hearts
The 2020 Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the provincial women's curling championship for Southern Ontario, was held from January 27 to February 1 at the Ed Lumley Arena in Cornwall, Ontario. The winning Rachel Homan rink represented Ontario at the 2020 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and lost the gold medal final to Manitoba. The event was held in conjunction with the 2020 Ontario Tankard, the men's provincial championship. Rachel Homan's rink from the Ottawa Curling Club completed their perfect undefeated run when they defeated Hollie Duncan's rink from the Royal Canadian Curling Club 7–6. It was Homan's 5th provincial title. Chelsea Brandwood
Chelsea Brandwood is a Canadian curler from St. Catharines, Ontario. She currently skips a team on the World Curling Tour. Her hometown is Beamsville, Ontario. Career Youth Brandwood's first provincial title came at the women's bantam championship in 2012. Brandwood won the Ontario Junior women's championship in 2015, with teammates Claire Greenlees, Brenda Holloway and Danielle Greenlees. The team represented Ontario at the 2015 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. Brandwood led her rink to a 7-3 record, after the round robin tournament. Julie Hastings
Julie Hastings (born September 5, 1975 in North York as Julie Anderson) is a Canadian curler from Stouffville, Ontario. Career As a junior curler, Hastings won the 1992 Ontario Junior Mixed Championship playing third for skip Brad Savage. In 1994, she won the Toronto Curling Association Junior bonspiel. At just 19, Hastings made it to the final of the 1995 Ontario Scott Tournament of Hearts, losing to Alison Goring. Jacqueline Harrison
Jacqueline Harrison (born July 28, 1978 in Niagara Falls, Ontario as Jacqueline Smith) is a Canadian curler from Waterdown, Ontario. Harrison currently skips a team on the World Curling Tour. Career Harrison's junior career involved reaching the semi-finals of the 1999 Ontario Juniors, winning the 1999 Ontario University championship and the provincial junior mixed championship playing third for future Olympic champion John Morris. After juniors, Harrison would win the Ontario Curling Association Tim Hortons Trophy with skip Vicky Hysop. She has also played in two mixed provincials (2008 and 2009). Danielle Inglis
Danielle Inglis (born February 26, 1988) is a Canadians, Canadian curling, curler from Whitby, Ontario. She currently Skip (curling), skips her own team. Career Juniors As a junior curler, Inglis and her Burlington Curling Club rink of Chantal Lalonde, Tracy O'Leary and Pam Feldkamp won the 2008 Pepsi Ontario Junior Curling Championships, upsetting the Rachel Homan rink in the final. Susan Froud
Susan Froud (born March 31, 1970 in Newmarket, Ontario) is a Canadian curler from Loretto, Ontario. Career Froud won a provincial university championship with the University of Waterloo in 1996. Froud played in the inaugural Canada Cup of Curling in 2003, playing second for the Marilyn Bodogh rink. Bodogh did not play in the event, so the team was skipped by Penny Shantz. The team finished the event with a 1–3 record, missing the playoffs. Megan Balsdon (born May 10, 1982 in Toronto, Ontario) is a Canadian curler. She currently plays third on Team Hollie Duncan. Career In 1998, Balsdon won the Ontario Bantam Mixed championships playing third for skip Bobby Reid. In 2001, she won the Pepsi Ontario Junior Curling Championships playing third for Carrie Lindner. The team represented Ontario at the 2001 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, finishing with an 8-4 round robin record. Jestyn Murphy (born September 21, 1996) is a Canadian curler from Mississauga, Ontario. She currently skips a team on the World Curling Tour. Career Youth Murphy won the Ontario Bantam championship in 2013, skipping a team out of the Listowel Curling Club. Murphy was a member of the University of Guelph women's curling team. In her first year, Murphy played third for the team, which was skipped by Katelyn Wasylkiw. The team played in the 2015 CIS/CCA Curling Championships, going 3-4. The next season, Murphy skipped the team, and led them to a bronze medal at the 2016 CIS/CCA Curling Championships. Murphy was named then Gryphon Athlete of the Week for the University of Guelph. CurlON (formerly the Ontario Curling Association) is the governing body of curling in Southern Ontario. Northern Ontario is governed by the Northern Ontario Curling Association (NOCA). CTRS Standings
The Canadian Team Ranking System (CTRS) is a point system used by Curling Canada to rank men's and women's curling teams across Canada. They are determined through points earned in various curling bonspiels held worldwide throughout the season. CTRS points are the basis of the World Curling Tour's Order of Merit and are also used as criteria in identifying teams that qualify for the Canadian Olympic Curling Trials. Beginning in 2018, the top two CTRS teams that do not otherwise qualify for the Scotties Tournament of Hearts or Tim Hortons Brier will earn the right to compete in a play-in game for a wildcard berth in those tournaments. Royal Canadian Curling Club
The Royal Canadian Curling Club is a curling club located in the Riverdale neighbourhood of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The clubhouse on Broadview Avenue was originally built in 1907 by the ''Royal Canadian Bicycle Club'', while the ice arena was added in 1929. In addition to cycling activities, the club had featured skating, baseball, ice hockey, curling, and ten-pin bowling, until 1953, when the club decided to focus exclusively on curling activities. Known to its members as ''The Royals'', the club hosts house league draws on evenings from Sunday to Friday as well as Tuesday afternoons. The club also hosts associate leagues including the Riverdale League, the Rotators, and the Insurance Curling League. The club has sponsored winning teams at provincial curling championships.
