2020 Nagorno-Karabakh War
The Second Nagorno-Karabakh War was an armed conflict in 2020 that took place in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenian-occupied territories surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, the surrounding territories. It was a major escalation of an unresolved Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, conflict over the region, involving Azerbaijan, Armenia and the Political status of Nagorno-Karabakh, self-declared Armenian breakaway state of Republic of Artsakh, Artsakh. The war lasted for more than a month and resulted in Azerbaijani victory, with Armenia ceding the Armenian-occupied territories surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, territories it had occupied in 1994 surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh. The Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic ( az, Naxçıvan Muxtar Respublikası, ), is a landlocked exclave of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Hikmat Huseyn oglu Hasanov (; born 1975) is an Azerbaijani major general, who is the commander of the 1st Army Corps (since December 2014). He is a laureate of the 3rd degree " For Service to the Fatherland" order. Life and service Hikmat Hasanov was born on 9 October 1975 in Pirəhmədli, Fuzuli District, then Azerbaijani SSR of the Soviet Union. In 1992, he entered the Baku Higher Combined Arms Command School. He began his service as a platoon commander in the military unit "N" in Tartar District. In 1994, he took a 6-month course at the Infantry School Command in Tuzla, Turkey. In 2002, he entered the Nanjing Land Forces Higher Military Academy of the People's Liberation Army of China to continue his education. Mais Barkhudarov ( az, Mais Bərxudarov) is an Azerbaijani officer, lieutenant general of Armed Forces of Azerbaijan, who was a participant of 2016 Nagorno-Karabakh clashes and 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war. Hikmat Mirzayev
Hikmat Izzat oglu Mirzayev () is an Azerbaijani military officer. He is a lieutenant general of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces and the commander of the Special Forces, and participated in the 2016 Nagorno–Karabakh clashes and the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war, during which he led Azerbaijani forces in the 2020 battle of Shusha. He had received the title of the Hero of the Patriotic War. Life and service Mirzayev was born in the Bilasuvar District of the then Azerbaijani SSR within the Soviet Union. On 19 January 2002, by the decree of the President Heydar Aliyev, Mirzayev was awarded the rank of Lieutenant colonel. Karim Tofig oglu Valiyev ( az, Kərim Tofiq oğlu Vəliyev; born 9 February 1961) is an Azerbaijani military officer, serving as the colonel general in the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. He is the Chief of the General Staff of Azerbaijani Armed Forces and the First Deputy Minister of Defence of Azerbaijan.
