2020 NRL Season
The 2020 NRL season was the 113th season of professional rugby league in Australia and the 23rd season run by the National Rugby League. Teams The lineup of teams remained unchanged for the 14th consecutive year. ; Notes : : : Pre-season The pre-season featured a returning Nines competition held at HBF Park in Perth on 14 & 15 February, replacing the competition previously held in Auckland. The All Stars match was played on 22 February at Cbus Super Stadium, returning to the contest's original venue. The 2020 World Club Challenge saw the NRL premiers Sydney Roosters defeat the Super League champions St. Helens, making them the first club to win consecutive World Club Challenges. Melbourne Storm
The Melbourne Storm are a rugby league club based in Melbourne, Victoria in Australia that participates in the National Rugby League. The first fully professional rugby league team based in the state, the Storm entered the competition in 1998. The Storm were originally a Super League initiative, created in 1997 during the Super League war, however, following the Super League collapse, the team became a part of the newly formed, united competition. The club play their home games at AAMI Park. The Storm have won four premierships since their inception, in 1999, 2012, 2017 and 2020, and have contested several more grand finals, but were stripped of the 2007 and 2009 premierships following salary cap breaches. Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks
The Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks are an Australian professional rugby league club based in Cronulla, in the Sutherland Shire, Southern Sydney, New South Wales. They compete in the National Rugby League (NRL), Australasia's premier rugby league competition. The Sharks, as they are commonly known, were admitted to the New South Wales Rugby League premiership, predecessor of the Australian Rugby League and the current National Rugby League competition, in January 1967. Josh Jackson (born 8 January 1991) is a former Australian professional rugby league footballer who played as a forward and was the captain of the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in the NRL. At representative level he has played for NSW Country, New South Wales in the State of Origin series, and Australia. Background Jackson was born in Gulgong, New South Wales, Australia. Steve Georgallis (Greek: Στυλιανός Γεωργάλλης; born 17 June 1968) is a Greek professional rugby league football coach who is the head coach of Greece, an assistant coach for the North Queensland Cowboys in the NRL and former professional rugby league footballer. Dean Pay (born 3 June 1969) is a former Australian professional rugby league footballer and former head coach of the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in the NRL, a professional player who played in the late 1980s and 1990s. He played for the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and the Parramatta Eels. He was an Australia and State of Origin representative for the NSW Blues. Western Sydney Stadium, commercially known as CommBank Stadium, is a multi-purpose rectangular stadium in Parramatta, within the Greater Western Sydney region, approximately west of Sydney CBD. Stadium Australia, currently known as Accor Stadium for sponsorship purposes, is a multi-purpose stadium located in the Sydney Olympic Park, in Sydney, Australia. 2020 Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs Season
The 2020 Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs season was the 86th in the club's history. They were competing in the National Rugby League's 2020 Telstra Premiership. Dean Pay was the coach from Round 1 to Round 9. He formally resigned from this position on 14 July 2020 was replaced by Steve Georgallis, who was named as Pay's interim replacement. It was reported that, following Pay's resignation and Georgallis's appointment, the clubs other Assistant Coach, Steve Antonelli also resigned from his position. The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs are an Australian professional rugby league football club based in Belmore, a suburb in the Canterbury-Bankstown region of Sydney. Joshua Hodgson (born 31 October 1989) is an English rugby league footballer who plays as a hooker for the Parramatta Eels in the NRL. He has played for the England Knights, England and Great Britain at international level. He has previously played for Hull FC and Hull Kingston Rovers in the Super League and the Canberra Raiders Hodgson began his senior club career with Hull F.C. after progressing through their Academy system, making his first team début in 2009. Jarrod Keith Croker (born 11 September 1990) is an Australian professional rugby league footballer who is the captain and goal-kicking for the Canberra Raiders in the NRL.
