2020 ISA World Surfing Games
The 2021 World Surfing Championship, ISA World Surfing Games took place across the La Bocana and El Sunzal waves at Surf City in El Salvador, from 29 May to 6 June 2021. The event was originally scheduled to be held from 9 to 17 May 2020, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in El Salvador, COVID-19 pandemic. The event was organised by the International Surfing Association (ISA). La Libertad (English: ''Liberty'') is a municipality in the La Libertad Department of El Salvador. It had a population of 35,997 inhabitants in 2007 according to the official census of that year. It is one of the main tourist attractions in the country. History In 1770 this area was referred to by Pedro Cortes, the Archbishop of Guatemala (1776–1779), as the "hacienda Tepeahua", one of the largest estates in the parish of San Jacinto. Ramzi Boukhiam (born 14 September 1993 in Agadir) is a Moroccan surfer. He placed 6th overall at the 2019 ISA World Surfing Games, earning qualification for the 2020 Summer Olympics as the highest-placed African surfer. He competed in the men's shortboard event at the Olympics, where he was eliminated in the third round by Michel Bourez of France. Julian Wilson (born 8 November 1988) is an Australian professional surfer who competes on the World Surf League Men's World Tour. Personal life Wilson was born and raised in Coolum Beach, Queensland. He is an ambassador for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Wilson's mother is a breast cancer survivor, and he was inspired to ride a pink board by a close family friend and international cricketer, Matthew Hayden, who plays with a pink bat for the corresponding cause. Wilson was in the water during the final of the J-Bay Open 2015 in South Africa when three-time world champion Mick Fanning was attacked by a great white shark. Owen Wright (born 16 January 1990) is an Australian professional surfer on the World Surf League (formerly the Association of Surfing Professionals) Men's Championship Tour.
